I mean really, should we give up? I just saw an old Opera Man sketch on news I've mostly forgotten and it was easily ten times funnier than anything in the new episodes... Is it just me?

No, it's not just you.

Sadly, aside from a few choice bits, it's all crap. I've mostly given up, to the point of flipping over for the first performance to time Weekend Update, and even now I'm not that enthralled with the Tina and Amy show. Amy needs to get Will Arnett on there.

the three new guys are pretty good. I saw one of them on Conan and he was imitating the announcer for SNL and it was great. where is heratio. amy and mya suck and lohan couldnt remember her lines (why do they bring her back). kenan is funny but they keep doing terrrible scenes with him.

its not just you, but it is partially you, and the rest of us

they have been doing the same thing for 30 years or whatever...its funnier when you're younger, when we were all younger

however they dont have the farleys or the carveys nowadays...that would help

theres the problem. You think Keenan is better than Amy Poehler.

ya, I was worried about that... But, I must agree the cat lasers were refreshingly different than the usual tripe.

it's just a matter of talent... bring in some talented young comedians and the show will improve, keep hiring the same unfunny people they've been hiring and the show won't improve...

SNL, with the exception of hte first few years, has been nothing but stretches of mediocrity broken up by performances by a few genuinely funny people... when they get another genuinely funny person or two, snl will improve...

when people consider the "lazy sunday" sketch as a classic, you know you're putting out crap.

The last time I saw Weekend Update, Amy PoPo was hosting it with Horatio Sanz, and it sucked ungodly amounts of ass. Sanz had no fucking clue what he was doing. Was that a one-time thing, or is Sanz the new co-host?

Weekend Update hasn't been funny since Norm MacDonald, but this shit was just embarassing.

No, To me they're both humorous female cast members. Amy's just crazy and Mya Rudolf can sing a note while still being funny (Prince Show for example)

As for weekend update, I agree the last funny person to do it was Norm. He had a knack at turning poorly written jokes funny again even if he had to ridicule himself. He would always show disgust or simply pause dead silent for several minutes if a joke didn't go well with audience.

there are some good moments hidden deep within this show, but unfortunately they arent the moments being talked about.

its usually stuff that your average viewer probably doesnt get.

for instance, i think the gibb bros. stuff is a fucking riot (do they even have that on anymore?)

i haven't lost hope.. along with andy samburg, they also hired the rest of the guys from lonely island to be writers. http://www.thelonelyisland.com/

i know they help write the digital shorts (lazy sunday, natalie portman rap, cats with lasers). they might help write other skits too.. not sure. but thats the kind of stuff i want to see more of. random funny shit.

i dont want SNL to turn into "stuff that will be big on the internet Night Live"

that "Lazy Sunday" thing wasnt very funny. I mean, its two guys. and theyre bored. and they rap about mundane stuff. if they just talked about it it would be better, but "white guys doing black stuff IS CA-RAAAZY!" humor is only good for so long.

i'd rather watch old Mr. Show reruns in that timeslot these days.

Just give up. If terrorists wanted any government info from me all they'd have to do is make me watch this shit for five minutes.

I watched the first half of last nights SNL that I DVR'ed. The Usual Suspects thing with Samberg was hilarious.

Otherwise it wasn't that great, especially after last weekend's episode.
