What would you say your favorite mod in an FPS was?

Back when it still existed, my favorite was "Firearms" for Half-Life. The mod preceded Battlefield yet used the same "Reinforcements" system, but rather than dividing people into set classes, they were given points which they could use to customize their loadout from the get-go. When a person's score went high enough, he would level up and could select a new perk (such as "Marksmanship," "Quick-loader," "Stealthy," etc.). Since the game was named Firearms, there were naturally plenty; about 4 different types of sniper rifle, 3 types of heavy machinegun, about 8 different assault rifles, 6 different smgs, and 5 different pistol types, as well as mortars, grenade launchers, etc. It was one of the best mods I had ever seen, second only to Counterstrike&Day of Defeat.

The only mod I've ever extensively played was TacOps for Unreal Tournament back in the day.

They didn't have Counter Strike for Macs.

BF1942 had so many good ones - Forgotten Hope, Desert Combat, BFirates, Eve of Destruction. I played all of them a lot. I loved Desert Combat, especially the 24/7 No Fly Zone servers. Good times.

Chaos with Quake 2. Nothing like running around with an Air Gun boucing off walls, or the saw blade gun rococheting the blades all over everywhere.

I was a low-grav instagib maniac in UT.

Shifter mod for Tribes was a classic. There was also a modded map for Tribes called Duck that was set on Rollercoaster and tons of bots automatically jetpacked into the air amongst the hills. I could sit there for hours and just snipe bots.

CS and DoD of course...

Half-life 2: DM was hilarious when I first played it. Clanking people in the head with toilets and shit, but it wasn't worth playing after that.
