another pic of the ZCP. I am more inclined towards the ZCPs...but 2 or 3 people have said the SSRs are more trendy....

The SSRs are ~$3000 on tirerack.com and you can only get the ZCPs from a dealer, and I found a source to sell them for ~$1700! 4/18/2006 11:23:08 PM |

they are factory knockoffs of the OEM M3 CSL style wheel. and you are right...they are much cheaper.4/19/2006 11:50:46 AM |

the ZCPs are not knock offs of the CSL. ZCP is a factory competition package that dealers sell.
the ZCP wheels are exactly the same as CSL except the fronts on the ZCPs are 8 inches instead of 8.5. In terms of looks, they should be near identical.
OEM CSL wheels are extra expensive and rare becase they are non-orderable in U.S. OEM ZCP wheels you can buy at the dealer. 4/19/2006 2:17:33 PM |

b/w the optoins above, i would go with the SSR...
i was actually looking at a set a while back when i was shopping for wheels.
the SSR comps would be nice also, too bad they've been discontinued
you may also want to look into iForged, J-Line, HRE (mentioned above), Kinesis, etc.

wtf is a rim 4/19/2006 2:21:15 PM |
addiwei All American 937 Posts user info edit post |
the reason against factory knock offs is because depending on how they're made, I heard they are softer than factory rims, therefore bending more easily. And some knock-offs are heavier than factory.
It would be analogous to going around sporting fake Pradas... might as well get a factory rim that is durable, looks good, and is the real thing. 4/19/2006 2:22:19 PM |

FYI: the CSL replicas from velocity motoring pass all road tests and have all the DOT approved certifications...meaing they are strong wheels. they are also fairly light at 22 lbs a piece. the major downside is that they are manufactured in China.4/19/2006 3:03:37 PM |
