I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for two colors that would make a small room look a little bigger. I am going to be painting each wall across from each other the same color. I would like the two colors to be light and bright and look good together. Also any other suggestions would be awesome. Thanks

Don't use dark colors, they make the room seem smaller. Incorporating mirrors into the room will make it appear bigger either way, though.

doing them across from each other might make it appear to be closing in, I'd suggest perhaps doing two walls next to each other the saem color instead. And a light/medium blue and a light taupe or cream color might be nice

what kind of room is it? bedroom? how many windows are in the space? there are a lot of things to consider besides color if you're trying to make it appear larger.

yellow...my mom painted a bedroom yellow and it brightened it up and looked really good

I agree, use a light/bright shade of yellow and if you want you can accent it with orange, green or blue. Just make sure you use a bright color, nothing at the bottom of the little color swatch.

It has one large window and the ceiling slightly slopes. If I paint the walls two bright colors should I just leave the ceiling white?

well it all depends on what furniture and accessories you will be putting in there.

thinking maybe:
taupe/cream
two shades of pink - pale and a slightly brighter/darker (not dark just darker)

really, two shades of any color will work. just make sure they are in the same family - i.e. pale butter and somewhat darker butter, pale green and a slightly darker green, etc. you will want them both to have warmth and have similar tones. in other words you don't want butter and chartreuse. paint stores can use the same base color and just put more white in one than the other. both should be lighter shades since it is a small room.

what mood do you want to convey? greens are typically soothing, blues can be depressing, careful with reds and oranges as they can be irritants (tho i love my burnt orange kitchen).

i know you said you wanted to do two walls one color and two the other. but another idea i think it is really attractive when you do the upper half of each wall with one color and the bottom with another (usually the darker shade). you can split the colors with a white chairrail. i've seen it in several magazines. looks very elegant.

Well I really would like a color that is bright and cheery. I was thinking a lemonish green. Or even a pale pale pink with a darker pink. My room furniture is a medium oak color. My bed is stand alone with out a head board. Awesome suggestions so far.
