Autosave document does not appear to have saved even though it says it saved it at the time of the crash.

Anyother way to recover this document?

Should still be a copy in a temp file cache somewhere... search for *.xls

Always recovered word documents this way.

xls? are you confusing excel for powerpoint? if it's a powerpoint file, it's a .ppt

try looking here:
C:/Documents and Settings/USERNAME/Application Data/Microsoft/PowerPoint

autosave saves files differently, I think powerpoint may be .pcb, I believe word autosaves are .asd
