I searched and most of the topics are old and few new but small. But, I just wanted to start a new one with the experiences of this past year. I would like to know if you currently live in the 1 bedroom or know about the condition of some 1 bedroom apartments, and if you recommend them. I am particularly looking for 1 bedroom or studio for around $450/month.
Here is my review of my apartment/townhouse: I live in Sumter Square, not a 1 bedroom but a 2 bedroom townhouse. They gave us a low rate with a 12 month lease, $635/month. They are VERY quick with maintenance calls. They are right off I-440, and it takes me an average of 5-6 minutes to get to the west lot parking lot (near wolf village). My townhouse in particular is located near the end of the complex and so we are kind of isolated from others. However, there are more families than students. Families with children, that play around, or ride their bikes in parking lot especially around the apartments.
If you are considering the apartments. Drive by around 4:30-5:30p.m., this is the time when the school buses come and children play. Sumter square are about 30 years old, but they have new windows and during the summer it can get hot but you’ll be okay with your A/C. Like I said maintenance is real good. 4/25/2006 7:20:48 PM |

Hahaha, it does……………see before I moved in I wanted to know what kind of people lived here and that’s the time most of the people come out and walk around, etc. But like I said they gave us the townhouse all the way at the near end next to bunch of trees. Although I must say they have a high Latino population. But, I don’t know what they are like since I never see them..
People say there are A LOT of roaches. At first we had 2-3 but that was when we moved in, after that we didn’t have any problems. The apartments are kind of crowded that why we chose the townhouses….so really, I don’t recommend the apartments, but the townhouses, yes.4/27/2006 9:34:53 AM |

ivy commons is 1br, cheap (was 450 when i lived there) and is in the best location for getting to campus. theres a bus route on each side of the complex that is either 1 stop to or from campus. parking was good and it had a lot of nice vegetation. 4/27/2006 9:52:17 AM |

Dominion Walnut Ridge is really good. It may not be as cheap as you're looking for but the one bedrooms are really big, lots of storage space, and they just updated a lot of the units with new carpet and new appliances. I've lived here for two years and i've never had a problem with people here. The maintenance is the best part, they are always fast and very curteous. When they came in to fix my AC last week they fixed it while i was gone but then shut all the windows for me. There's not assigned parking, two pools, a basketball court and a tennis court. 4/27/2006 2:56:44 PM |

How did that A/C problem turn out? Is the maintenance quick?
I drove by the apartments today and they seem nice from the outside. The office was closed and board said “open upon appointments.” I spoke with a lady before and she gave me some information. But she did not know what the square footage of the 1 bedroom apartments were, does any know or estimate?4/28/2006 5:37:06 PM |

i'll miss my sumter square town house... only here for another month or so (been here for 2 years). sumter square is largely family oriented, but there is a significant student minority (prob b/c its students discount) a little farther into the complex. mu beta psi (an honorary, music, service fraternity) has a big chunk of its alpha chapter here & there are other students around too. it has always had a friendly neighboor type feel to it, atleast on this side of the complex. its also between crossroads shopping center, and a smaller shopping center on western with a grocery store & a few places to eat called Plaza West. it'll be to leave.

^^ I'm wondering that as well. I'm in a one bedroom place at the moment but am thinking about Ivy Commons since we're a bit cramped and need a washer/dryer, but they don't give the square footage. I guess I'll just have to go check them out. 4/28/2006 7:43:53 PM |

I'm graduating in December so I am looking for a 6 month lease (around Aug-Feb). Does anyone know a decent 1 bedroom apartment complex that will do this? Looking for the 450-500 range, not ghetto if possible, and at least semi-close to campus.
I called Ivy Commons and they only do 12 month leases and there is a waiting list anyway. 5/3/2006 2:22:55 PM |

it had to be fixed 2x (maybe 3, i cant recall) in 2 years. they came out within 24hrs usually since that is high priority.
[Edited on May 3, 2006 at 2:31 PM. Reason : sq footage is around low 600's, not huge, but right around 600 is my guess] 5/3/2006 2:30:48 PM |

the sumter square place - how much noise could you hear from your neighbors (when you were in your place)?
wait, so it's near Cary? nevermind - just read that after I posted. I need a North Raleigh place.
