^ if your car hadn't broke maybe I could have gotten the whole event in!
I got a lot of seat time at the TnT. I'm sure that I'll move up after the next couple of events. 4/27/2006 10:01:03 AM |

yeah i wasn't counting the TnT as an event.

well Im not claiming that I'll be competitive in LAD or SM or even NOV but I think after a couple more events I at least won't be a n00b anymore. I dunno we'll see. 4/27/2006 11:12:12 AM |

does DS NOV get a different PAX multiplier than normal DS ? 4/28/2006 9:43:37 PM |
ncsu_angel All American 1998 Posts user info edit post |
no, but if you are in NOV, then your PAX time will be used to rank you among the novices. If you ran open DS, your raw time would be used to rank you among the other DS drivers and the PAX time wouldn't really be used for anything (except to compare yourself to everyone else at the event who isn't in your class).

No laughing...
68.3 with 3 cones on the slalom.
Started the day with Matt as an instructor and did a 78... then did 73 ... hitting 6 cones. I was afraid of hurting my car.
My girlfriend comes up and does a friggin 69 TWICE... once getting 1 cone. We're right at the announcer booth and my friend goes "dude did your girlfriend just beat your time in your own car"... and take a guess what the announcer did next.
My last two runs were my better. I got a 71 with 1 cone and a 68 with 3 cones. I just wasn't pushing my car hard enough.
So sadly enough... my girlfriend beat me in my own car with a 69.18. There's no salvaging the pride here. 4/30/2006 9:12:57 PM |

hah awesome.
BUT WAS IT FUN?
also, did you get a chance to ride along w/ anyone faster? thats an eye opening experience 4/30/2006 9:17:55 PM |
Raige All American 4386 Posts user info edit post |
nah every chance I had to ride with someone faster one of my group was there first. No biggie. I'll ride with someone next time we come.
It was a blast. I'm so used to driving in smaller cars that I only hit the cones on the right side of the car because I misjudged distance. 4/30/2006 10:05:49 PM |

61.7 clean
I finally got clean the last run of the day! 5/1/2006 8:08:39 AM |

^^ if/when you come next time i can mentor you and let you ride w/ me. i think seeing it done is ten times more helpful than you driving and having the more experienced guy tell you how its done. once in awhile i slack off and need to ride w/ someone really fast to get reminded again what fast/aggressive is. hah its suuuuuuuper helpful. i garuntee its worth 3 seconds off your time
as far as running clean, there are two opposing schools of thought. one says make every run count and if you cone away every run, then oh well at least you gave it your all and didnt waste any shots on sissy runs. the other says take the first run a little easy and be SURE to get a clean smooth run under your belt. w/that as a foundation your confidence is up and you can push harder and harder the next times and hopefuly maintain the cleanliness. its like practicing something in slow motion and then working up to speed. the con to this though is that if you take your sweet time getting up to speed, the day will be over before you get a fast/competitive run in.
i like the latter school of thought. i just feel much better knowing i have a solid clean run in and i know the course/didnt dnf, etc. but the con did sort of show up w/ my yesterday, i didnt hit a cone all day! so i guess i wasnt trying hard enough . maybe if i was more aggressive from the get go i coulda went faster in the end. oh yeh but my point is that i think novices also do well w/ this approach because it a) relieves pressure from the first run (just take it easy), and then when that goes well it b) gives the confidence to push harder on the next runs 5/1/2006 8:38:16 AM |
