Sooo the floor in my laundry room is this linoleum-plastic looking flooring material (for the water reasons, I'm assuming) and I come home to some minor water that had pooled up in there. However, there was a white and blue paper shopping bag in the floor that I had been using as a mini-trash can and the dye from the bag appears to have dyed part of the floor a nice shade of purple....
any suggestions?
the "simple" answer that would *seem* to work would be to leave some bleach on the same spot to maybe be absorbed and bleach the indigo... but i'm willing to bet that is a RETARDED idea 4/27/2006 10:18:50 PM |

If it's just a small room tear it up and replace it. It doesn't have to match the kitchen, just buy a pattern that's close and no one will ever notice. 4/27/2006 10:27:27 PM |

it's upstairs, and the kitchen is upgrade stone tile anyways... so no need to match...
the room is really only as big as the dryer and washing machine (more of a closet really)... any idea how much it costs to replace that much (or more importantly, is it a pain in the ass just a hire a pro or can I make my boyfriend do it??)
according to clorox.com

Get your boyfriend to snatch it up and buy a cheap remnant from a flooring place. I usually have some lying around but not right now. Anyway, I've wasted way too much time trying to get stains out of linoleum with little result.
Try clorox first though.

Shit...clorox is diluted sodium hypochlorite solution...it's only like 5% bleach.
And hell yeah, I'd use it full strength outta the bottle. It's not really that strong anyway. 4/27/2006 10:36:21 PM |

I would avoid, replacing all the linoleum. You don't wanna have to unhook your washer and dryer just to get the stuff laid out under there. My suggestion? Leave it. Fix it later when you get a new washer/dryer. If you're renting, leave it anyway--they can suck it. 4/27/2006 11:15:58 PM |

go to biglots
buy a roll of it for 10 bucks
pull the quarter molding up
pull the old vinyl up
re-glue
cut and paste
you could do it in an hour, and it feels good to have done something yourself.
i changed mine in the bathroom in a couple hours, and i had to pull the toilet out of the floor.
was a good time 4/28/2006 1:38:57 AM |
