I'm wondering about getting a job at a bank. Not as a teller or anything like that--but in management and in some position where you can work up the chain. Do you have to have a degree in business?

business with a concentration in finance would probably be helpful... but i think a lot of banks hire and then put new hires through training programs

most of that is probably for familiarity with their processes though

there are two sides to many banks now. The securities and investment side and the banking side. They are different in terms of moving up the ranks, etc. You may want to focus on the side that most interests you. And, if you're not sure, some of the big banks have employment (for lack of a better word) departments that list their available jobs, etc. Also, I know BofA has an employment website. You can browse through there and take a look at the requirements and job descriptions. I used to work for them when I was younger and I found that there were lots of opportunities to move up the chain. However, you can only go so far without an MBA. They really like their upper management people to have an MBA. Of course there are always exceptions. What you can do, though, is get your foot in the door of an area that you like. Once you're there for a certain period of time, they will usually allow you to take advantage of their tuition reimbursement program, so you could get your MBA then.
