I have had this little Dachshund dog for about 2 years now. Every thing has been goin well, but one day I noticed (what appears to be an abnormality) with his testicles. I don't know what size they are supposed to be for a dog his age/size. But this motherfuckers hung like a Clydesdale.

I was watching him play in the lawn the other day, and I swear it looked like he was draggin a pair of Shaquille O'neil's nuts behind him. They left a trail thru my lawn. However, they don't appear to trouble him in any kind of way. I just dont think its right. Usually I have dealt with larger breeds, but this is my first with this breed.

You should of had em clipped anyway. All you can really do is ask a vet though.

When will people understand that not everyone wants a sterile pet!! Some people breed their animals, some have no risk of their pet being bred, all the Bob Barker Nazi's need to back off of EVERY PET THREAD ON TWW AND NOT RESPOND TO THEM!! WE ALL KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY, BUT WE DON'T CARE TO SEE IT AGAIN!!!!!

When the shelters are overflowing I think it's irresponsible to breed a dog. There's plenty of good ones that need to be adopted.

Also, a clipped k-9 is more stable, thus you are happier and so are they. You can type in all the caps you want... you're still wrong.

yea, i was never really for clippin them off. It makes the dog less aggressive, plus throws out the consideration for breeding in the future. I mean, my dogs nads look pretty badass from a human perspective. Who wouldn't wanna be hung like that ya know. I just wonder if its safe for the animal? He has never been bred, so they might need a little vacation. But ive had dogs in the past and this has never happened.

I am not wrong, I said that not everyone wants their dog "fixed"--correct.
I didn't say if I agreed with it or not, but that it happens and every thread about animals doesn't need a Bob Barker in it--correct.

Padowack, hope you the little fella's testicle tracks out of your yard soon!

Nothing about what I said was angry. This is tww, don't try to interpret my moods by my typing.
The caps was an accident btw, but I'll leave it anyways.

Nevermind, this thread is for the dog, not your attitude.

But I think the dog might should be checked out by the vet, unless someone has some insight on this particular subject. I had a dog that only one testicle dropped, but that don't have much in common with your dog!

i would get it checked it out. A majority of male dogs left intact get testicular and/or prostate cancer. There are more preventable health concerns for intact animals than spayed and neutered animals. Even if you don't want to hear us bitch about you breeding your dog then be concerned with the health of your dog.

Okay humans don't have litters first of all.

It really doesn't make sense to compare them at all.

well guys, theres good news and bad news. Bad news is, that it was a form of hernia (phew) and not some cancer like i thought, actually thats kinda good news. But this kind of hernia can/will develope into a tumor which can be severe/deadly. surgical procedures are 2500$ plus additional fees

the good news it that, that 2500$ surgery won't be taken place, and kong will just have to tough it out until this becomes severe. surgery isnt allways the best answer. ive researched dog accupuncture and herbal remedies, so thats prolly more along the lines of whats best for him

it was kinda funny what the doctor said about him when he first saw him tho. he was an older man, prolly in his mid 60's and he goes

I take kong in the room, and place him on the observation table

me: heres the problem, its kinda obvious. he's a rock star!!!
doctor: son, you outta be arrested for havin this dog look like this. this is no laughin matter at all. how would you like it if your Fuckin balls were this ripe. parton my french.
me: my bad doc, i didnt know it was that serious!!
doctor: ...

Yeah, i mean, if he isn't in a near death situation. And you said he was fine and in no pain. Then just let him chill out. I hate it when people take their animals to the vet every week, such a waste of cash man. I think that we forget they're animals and not human beings.

So wait...you're not going to fix them...? You're just going to do freaking accupuncture and hope it goes away? What the fuck. Pay a hundred bucks and have them chopped off already.

I just assumed the dog wasn't in any pain. I mean, he procrastinated on taking him in the first place so...he can't be in too much pain. Or maybe he can.

tamper with mine either!! Im just goin by the ole' saying "if it aint broke, don't fix it".

seriously though, one of the benefits of neutering your dog is this kinda stuff. i thought spaying/neutering animals gave them a longer/healthier life in general.

^ no you dont care about your dog

if you did you'd have neutered him previously to help avoid problems like this.
if you did you'd pay to have him neutered now
if you did you'd pay for the operation

This problem could have occured either way. It was not primarily a testicular hernia, but the surrounding organs and tissues.

Tis true. But what if I decide to breed him in the future?

Quote :

Tis true again. Considering the fact that I only paid 25$ for congo at a yard sale, 2500$ is a rather huge investment for an animal with no documents. Plus, the doctor said he wasn't in vital health. This could potentially develope into a vital matter. As for now he is in no discomfort. I really have faith in the accupuncture tho. Has anyone else up here had that done before?

You do know that by not getting him neuter you all but guarantee he will get cancer?

Do you know that by buying an undocumented dog you have probably assured yourself significant future vet bills because of bad geners?

Do you even have your dog on heartworm prevention?

Do you also know that Dachsund's are notorious for having back/spinal problems that require very expensive corrective surgery?

You just don't get it do you? This is not the way you care for an animal that depends on you. This is a living breathing thing that is probably loyal to you and you are treating it like a 401(k).

When I was a broke ass junior at State my dog got rolled under a car and needed surgergy to fix his leg properly. That surgery was $2,700!!! Did I have that kind of money? Hell no! But what did I do for my mutt dog that I rescued from an alley way 3 years prior? I got another job, I borrowed money from everyone I could, and worked my ass off. My dog got his surgery, recovered fully and is happy today.

If you are going to own an animal, be prepared to do what it takes to keep him 100% happy and healthy. Otherwise, don't have one.

And, please, don't ever breed dogs unless you make some changes about how you will care for them.

you people have it totally wrong!!! I care for this animal, i really do. My dog is happy today. Surgery at this point would be the equivalent to cosmetic breast enhancements for a human. Its just not needed!!
Its a hernia that can go away on its own.

I honestly woke up, glaced at his nutts, and WHAMMO they were fucking huge. This is not something that i watched develope over a course of weeks. Sometimes shit happens, and people arnt prepared. I dont have 2500$ right now to go towards nutt surgery okay. Im gonna try alternative methods, like i mentioned earlier, and in the meantime save money for that.
