i posted this topic in the lounge a few weeks ago but i thought u guys in tech talk may know better. but..
have any of you guys been receiving spam trying to illicit u to invest in these random companies. these e-mails have been flooding my ncsu account e-mail (which i only use for ncsu, banking, and other official buisness) and i realized its been hitting my secondary e-mail too. although in my yahoo account its been deflected to bulk mail.
The "from" address is different each time from a non-typical domain. and the email is a GIF image containing the message. I really wonder if these companies can get in trouble under all the anti-spam legislation thats been passed. I'm guessing it might have to do w/ a worm
i would rly like these e-mails to stop; i wonder if anyone actually gets these and is like hey i better follow the advice of this e-mail and dump my live savings into a stock recommendation from someone i don't even know 5/2/2006 8:29:48 PM |

I setup a spam filter in webmail that sends them all to a "spam" folder so I don't have to ever see them again. 5/4/2006 1:49:52 AM |

if you are sick of spam, all you have to do is the following simple steps:
1) setup you email to come in thru outlook or outlook express if you aren't already. http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/email/outlook/oxp_pc.php
2) Install Cloudmark Desktop, pay $40 for the first year and $20 for each additional. http://www.cloudmark.com/desktop/?from=cnsmr-menu Try the 15 day trial and you'll be convinced
Quote : | "Only Cloudmark has the power to apply human feedback in real time to block spam, phishing, and additionally many viruses and spyware. Leveraging a highly sophisticated Trust Evaluation Systemâ„¢ (TeS) and groundbreaking technology, feedback is corroborated in real time, so that only a few people ever have to see a spam email before it is blocked for everyone. Cloudmark Desktop is entirely transparent and requires no configuration, making it powerful, yet simple and easy to use. " |
There are other options but this is the most effective (though you do pay a price)5/4/2006 2:05:19 AM |
