what would be the best way to go about this?

i was thinking maybe a linear actuator or two, or maybe a high torque dc motor attached to a scissor jack, but honestly i'm not really certain how to best approach the mechanical aspect of it

any ideas?

how heavy is the tv i think is going to decide the implementation



you will probably go threaded shaft turned by dc motor to lift, and guiding shafts inside bearings to hold it straight as it goes up

not too heavy, probably like a 21" incher

though i have a big sony wega that i'd like to do it too someday

i'd like the lift to fit in a box/chest so i'm not sure about the threaded shaft, can you point me to an example of what you mean?

i can do the woodworking and the electronics, i'm just trying to find a way to do the mechanics with little to no welding

easy way to do it is via cable linkage. Idler pulley at the top of each corner, 4 cables perm attatched tot he cirners of the tray, and you can do the poer end with a winding drum, or a screw movement frame or small hyd ram with a traveling block for the cables to attatch to. Thius can also be used to countereight , via springs, a much larger tv to allow a low power comp air system or a small low power lift to movew the tv.
