STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. SIDNEY LOWE AND DEREK WHITTENBERG ARE NOT GONNA WALK THROUGH THOSE DOORS AND IF THEY DID THEYD BE OLD AND GRAY.

HERB IS OUR COACH AND WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF OUR NCAA TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION RIBBON AND CONTENT WITH GETTING OUR FACE KICKED IN BY UNC's COLLECTION OF FRESHMEN AND WALK-ONS.

WHO CARES IF THE SEATS ARE EMPTY AND NO ONE OUTSIDE OF THE STATE EVEN KNOWS WE HAVE A BASKETBALL TEAM?

WHO CARES IF THEIR COACHING AT ACC LEVELS IS UNPROVEN AT BEST? THEY WERE ON THE FLUKE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, SO THEY MUST BE GOOD. HEY, DID FOWLER TRY TO HIRE CARMELLO ANTHONY? HE WAS ON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD TOO.

"Well, the special interests may think they have this one locked up tight, and we may be starting this battle for tax fairness as underdogs, but you students of North Carolina State know a thing or two about starting out as underdogs and going on to victory. You began the '83 basketball season near the bottom of the polls, but you never lost heart. You gave it all you had through that final second of play when a dunk shot won you the championship. Well, what I want to do is bring a little more of that Wolfpack spirit to Washington this fall and win one for America."

If you have the mentality of a loser, you are a loser.

Herb was a loser.

He will never amount to shit as a coach. He doesn't have "it".

He's scared to try.
He's scared to commit himself.
He's scared to succeed.

I dont know what else the man has to do (or not do really) to get you people to see this.

Herb sucked the life out of NC State basketball for me and many others.

In fact, his very existence makes me angry. When I look at the past four rosters it makes me absolutely sick to think of what could have been.

I see. So charisma is more important than results. I know the perfect coach for you:

Charisma?

I didn't say anything about charisma.

Herb was a loser.

Amato is far from perfect. He chases off assistant coaches, kicks FG's when we're down 7 (VT game debacle), doesn't teach field discipline, etc

But our football team doesn't lay down when it faces adversity like our basketball team does.

If you don't have confidence in yourself then you can't breed confidence in others, its as simple as that.

Herb is in a perfect situation. Arizona State doesn't give a shit about basketball. Herb will already be acclimated to empty arenas so he won't have to make much of an adjustment. He can finish 4th, 5th, or 9th in the Pac 10 and no one will care because they went to ASU to fuck girls not to watch basketball.

Sports are supposed to be entertaining. If you aren't entertaining or winning, why bother?

How many Damien Wilkens & Josh Powells did Herb have to chase off?

How many Courtney Fells and Scooter Sherrills did he have to bury on the bench?

How many Cedric Simmons had to be underutilized?

How many fresh shot clocks did he have to expire?

How many times did we have to play North Wautaga State?

A decade of boredom is enough.

But we did win. More, I would gage, than we will for several years into the future.

Damien Wilkens had no business at this university.

I'm of mixed views... but Coz, you have to admit Sendek's style of play was antiquated, boring, and would have never gotten us to the final four (let alone a championship). Too many teams with athleticism and scoring potential have figured out how to 'man-handle' the half court game. Simply put, Herb did not exploit the talent we have and probably needed to go.

At least next year we should have an exciting team to watch.

(and yes, so many people say that us getting to the championship is a pipe dream; but, if you aren't in it to at least try and go all the way, what's the point in playing?)

No matter how wordy you make it, that has always been the core of your arguement, but it is based in opinion, so we are never going to get anywhere.

if he had run the ball all the time and held dunk practice and yelled a lot and gotten the same results, he'd still be here.

so when exactly did we have empty arenas?

i seem to recall something about us being one of the more successful teams as far as attendance and revenues from basketball.

I guarantee our attendance numbers will be higher next year with sendek gone because he ran half of our fanbase out of town. We've never been in the RBC when people totally supported what NC State basketball was doing, and I know people that woldnt show up because they didnt want to watch us piss away games with that slow shit offense. The fact that our attendance numbers were as high as they were under sendek is amazing and says a lot aobut our fans.

What? You must have a short memory. Most people were behind Herb until a few years ago when they realized he squandered talent and his players were not getting better year to year. I particularly remember 2003 as being the beginning of the end. People still supported him after the dismal 2001 season.

AHAHAHAHAHA

Quote :
":08 remaining
Score: N.C. State 52, Houston 52

Sidney Lowe, N.C. State senior guard: "That was his shot. And I felt we had to take our chance. But he didn't shoot. That really screwed me up."

Bailey: "I wasn't dumb. I knew I hadn't made a shot in the entire second half so there was no way I was going to shoot that. I didn't even look at the basket. I kicked it out, past Sidney, over the top of the defense, to Dereck. Next thing I know, Benny Anders comes from behind Dereck and pokes the ball away. I was thinking, 'Oh my goodness. He's going to steal the ball. We're going to lose. And it's going to be my fault.' "

Whittenburg: "The ball got knocked away, but I reached out and grab it."

Gannon: "I was wide open. I'm still wide open, by the way. In fact, I'd have a better voice if he would have passed to me. I was screaming so loudly for the ball I ruined my voice."

Whittenburg: "Everybody is yelling that Terry is open on the right. Hell, I ain't passing to him. He's a sophomore and he might miss it. I'm not passing to him. So I take the shot." "
