"Adelman made 8 consecutive playoff appearances, brought popularity to one of the least favorite NBA franchises, and won 2 divistion titles. Yet he got fired"

That's a paraphrase quote from the ESPN.com article detailing Adelman's firing at the hands of the Kings ownership. Will the national media berate the Kings for firing such a successful coach? If not, then why did they berate NC State fans for demanding more than mediocrity. I see a lot of parallels here, but people seem to be okay with this firing. Now, to be fair, I haven't seen the fallout yet, but I just don't see it coming the way we got attacked.

Any thoughts?

I'm so pissed that the Kings didn't resign him. Adelman was a class act in Sacramento, and I'll always be grateful for him giving the Kings a strong look in the early 2000s. I hate this. I really do.

Yeah, I really hate it when we don't make it to the NCAA out of 426+ schools. And NOTHING irks me more than just being in their pretty little "sweet 16"

one is the coach of a professional basketball team

the other was the coach of a college team= student athletes.

in my opinion they should be looked at differently.

shouldnt be all about winning and losing in college.

but i guess it is now

Well, many people do consider winning basketball games to be an important component of the coach's job.

no, they laugh at us because some of us think that we deserve a national championship based on our past....and not even our recent past.

yeah, but sac's offense was not boring. and it was energetic. adelman got screwed just because the maloofs don't like him. coaching is not nearly as important in the nba as it is in college. with a full year with this line-up, there's no reason to think that sac couldn't contend for a western conference championship. the players barely know each others names, and they gave the number 1 seed a tough fight. the maloofs were fooling themselves if they expected to see results this year with the new squad, and this is a bad sign of things to come of they are going to be pulling puppet strings for this franchise without giving petrie absolute authority of all personel moves. they've held a grudge on him for no reason (like last offseason, when the courted phil jackson while adelman was still the active coach), and petrie wouldn't fire him (the two go way back) unless his higher-ups made him.

if sac gets don nelson, look for artest's talents on the defensive end to go to waste, completely.
