What is the difference between FIFA 06 and FIFA 06 World Cup? Can you play the World Cup in the regular FIFA game?

You can make a custom tourney in Fifa06 but it won't be called the World Cup and there is no designated mode for qualifying and the tourney. It's more club based and things like the WC Stadiums and new kits won't be there..

The World Cup version is much more tourney specific. All the stadiums are recreated, the new kits/rosters are there, and you can qualify for the whole tourney.

I prefer the more club based Fifa06 personallly but I may give RTWC a chance..

if youre talking about on the 360, definitely go with the world cup version. the fifa 06 they put out for 360 sucked, no world cup, just qualifying. theres no club teams either in the 360 version so if youre talking about for the 360 id definitely get the world cup version. we play it non-stop here...

if you're talking about for a ps2, then I'd definetly recommend FIFA 06

I've been playing it nonstop since I got it a couple weeks ago...I havent tried out World Cup 2006 yet so I cant say if its better or not

Fifa 06 doesn't have every national team, while WC06 does.

If you want national team play, and that's what you're in to, go WC06.

If you want club play, manager stuff, transfers, etc, go Fifa 06.

^^^ see I trade off a little game play (i've heard all the hockey on grass shit) for the ridiculous amount of licenses Fifa has..

I think the 06 gameplay is VASTY improved over other versions to the point where I'm happy enough with it that the overall value of the game is much more then WE..

I don't understand why vinylbandit rips FIFA so much... even if the gameplay isn't as good as Winning Eleven, you act like its a Nintendo version against a PS2

Every year, people tell me how much FIFA has improved. Every year I try it, and come running back to WE. WE9 isn't even that much different from WE8, but the FIFA gameplay still hasn't caught up. Sure, I wish there were more teams in WE, but I don't really give a shit about the licenses. The control system in WE is so intuitive and perfectly layered in complexity, I couldn't imagine playing a game that was anything less.

I've found out that the bar you charge up in WC, and i'm assuming FIFA, is no longer the power bar, but trajectory bar. So if you're powering it up a ton near the goal, you will sail it over every time. The power is based on who is shooting, what foot they will shoot with, if they are defended, and if they were sprinting or set.

Yes, it's hard at first, but once you find a move or two that works, you'll be able to score 80% of the shots you take.

I had trouble with it at first too, and I'm willing to bet that you are like me - you know that if you dont just mash on the shoot button then the shot will be more on target, but when you do get in position to shoot you get all excited and end up mashing and holding on the shoot button so it sails wide or high.

sooo, you should just slow down your excitement when you are about to shoot and make a conscious effort to only push the shot button a little bit. This will keep the shot on goal

once you get it down, it will start getting easier

jadn got it right. Pace. Power. Control.

I've always loved that the shooting in WE (and apparently FIFA has stolen the system now, too) was just like in real life: if you get an open shot and go "OMG THE GOAL," you'll shank it.

The first time I played a WE/ISS game was MLS ExtraTime, which is not a great game but does feature the great WE control and physics system. It took me a good six matches to score with that game, and then it had a dual-function shot bar: the pressure of the button press was strength, and the length was trajectory, displayed by the rising angle of the bar.

When I got WE6, the bar no longer changed angles, so it took me another 3-4 matches to score there.

My advice for getting that first marker is to use the Brazilian team and run a short pass offense of lateral direct passes and short through balls. If you do it right over the course of the game, you'll have at least one or two tap-in opportunities. Then you can move on to getting the hang of on-target thumpers from 25 yards, and finally chip shots over the keeper when you've sent a ball over the defense.

Wow, I'm a nerd.

I got RTWC last night and it's a lot different game then 06. A lot harder IMO.. the physics seem all different..

** traded 3 06 sports games (NCAA, Tiger, and Madden) for it that I never play and got it free..

I grew up playing fifa but i just started playing WE, i cant go back. WE9 is so hard to score a goal when the difficulty is all the way up. With Fifa i can beat a team 10-0 no prob. Plus they put the Ronaldinho move in WE9, the one he does in the ESPN Commerical, where he drags the ball with one foot and brings it back. It is Sick. The new WE10 is coming out later this year with even more liscenses. FIFA has to step up their game if they are going to compete.

well i have a 360 so RTFWC and FIFA World Cup 06 are the only two games available on 360. its been said many times, if you like club play, stick with FIFA 06. if you like the world game and playing with nearly every country imaginable, get FIFA World Cup 06. i find it super fun/challenging trying to qualify/win the World Cup with teams like Canada and Austrailia.

There are no playoffs in the middle of the season. The only playoffs in England should be the playoffs for the last spot to move into the Premiership from the Championship.

Cups are completely separate from the league championship. The FA Cup is a Cup competition that includes every team in England. The US has a similar competition, the US Open Cup, played every year since 1918, that is open to every men's senior team in the country, including the teams of fat thirtysomethings who play on Saturday afternoons.

i kicked ass at fifa 98 for the n64 but i suck at the new one

for the 64 i could put it on the hardest level and win the cup with the US while winning all my games by at least 5 or 6 goals.

for the new one, i pick arsenal and just beat some shitty team 1-0

FIFA 06 is better in my opinion, but there's not that much different. Somebody said it in this thread - it all comes down to whether you'd rather play with club teams or national teams. The major gameplay differences I've noticed is, it's alot harder to score in the World Cup game. I play world class on both games, and breakaways were guaranteed goals in FIFA and in WC, there's an occasional miss. It's also harder to connect on through balls and the passes aren't as accurate, which I guess is realistic, but frustrating when you're playing a video game. The best thing about WC to me is the players' skill levels are more accurate to real life. On FIFA, it seemed like sucky teams could compete speed/skill wise with the Chelsea's and Barcelona's... but not on WC.

It looks like, from all that, that I think the WC is a better game, but I'd actually rather play FIFA. I've noticed alot of glitches in World Cup, like they just kind of threw it all together quickly. And as much as I like the World Cup, it's really just getting me more hyped for EPL next season, which is why I might be biased towards FIFA.
