The last person from North Carolina, Chris Daughtry.

Saw a clip with him and one of his sons, and his son was wearing a State hat at least, so at least he has that going for him still, haha.

i'm really surpised they kicked chris off. i thought he was going to win.

it's probably better though...at least now he won't be under the idol contract for as long.

he looked completely dumbfounded though.

I hate Chris and am glad he's gone...

he's one dimensional... and got way too much props for doing a shitty imitation of Live's version of I walk the line.

I was suprised. Today while flipping the channels I saw some news channel showing Simon predicting Taylor and Chris in the finals, and then it showed some thing about speculation that the contest is rigged.

They said that each year a contestant from a different genre has won it, and this year they had found a really good "rock" type person they could promote and predicted he would win it.

Well, throw that theory out the door, haha.

Chris has a good voice, I thought he got the crowd into it pretty well, he'll end up a front man of a band more than likely. Wonder if he'll take Fuel up on their offer?

Who's Left:
Katherine McPhee - Strong voice, HOT
Taylor Hicks - good voice, great charisma, entertaining
Elliot Yamin - solid voice, not much charisma, but has the sentimental/underdog thing working in his favor

meh... Chris was way too one dimensional... and I just don't see too many grunge fans getting into a band with an american idol singer. I also will never forgive this guy for doing Live's version of I walk the line, and let the judges tell him how he made the song his own... Next year, I'll do a rock version of 99 red balloons and let Paula suck me off for being so origional.

Eliot has no charisma... needs to shave... needs ear surgery. However, he has a good voice... dresses well... and the fact that he's not Taylor makes him my favorite guy left.

Taylor has his own thing... I can't stand his dancing, or his voice... but he has a huge following and I can understand that... there's nothing in alabama to do but watch american idol now that football season is over.

Kat is my favorite for obvious reasons... (.)(.)

none of them are good "performers" except taylor. chris, kat, and elliott all just stand around

at least taylor dances or attempts to move around and do something

I'd rather watch them stand around... then what Taylor does on stage.

That's not dancing... that's acting like an idiot.

i was kind of pissed that he got kicked off, but i think it will work out for the best as people have said.

the guitarist in his band was my mom's computer guy and had to quit his job because things got so busy for them selling cds and stuff. chris is really close with his band so i'm sure someone will swoop down and sign them and he'll have more freedom than being bossed around by the idol people. now he can make the rest of his band rich and have a little more say in his music career.

katherine is too kelly-esque and women have won 3 outa 4 idols. id bet a man wins this one.

taylor sounds like michael bolton.

elliot, i think, sounds the best, but he's a weird looking guy.

id vote kat off next week, but her fans may rally due to her almost getting the boot this week.

[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 11:11 AM. Reason : but seriously, chris/kat did the worst by this week, they deserved to go]

chris didnt claim that song as original, simon said it was original, probably bc he only seems to know about pop music

i'm sad chris is gone, but i agree thats its probably for the best

i dont know who to pull for... elliot does have the underdog appeal, but he just looks too weird, taylor freaks me out, and katherine is ok but shes really been sucking it up lately

Unless, American Idol, having concerns that the average joe citizen was beginning to suspect that the contest was rigged, purposely chose him to lose because they knew that it would dispel the rumors.

^That was my initial thought because even some of the former contestants were spewing these claims.

Now Simon will either choose who he can promote the best out of the remaining 3, or actually let the contest play out.

If they let it play out I think Elliot will win it because of the whole underdog/sentimental 90% hearing loss story or whatever.

But from Simon's point of view, Elliot will be really hard to market.

I never watch the show, so I don't have that much room to speak but I think that even a rigged system would be better than their current system. They pretty much allow people to spam away at the phone lines and whoever gets the most calls wins. That's stupid. It would be better if they used a system where one telephone number gets one vote - easy enough to implement. Maybe that way the most popular person would win instead of the person with a legion of no-lifes that hit redial.

BTW. I thought it was obvious that the show was rigged that season where Simon came down on that fat chick in the prelims and got a lot of heat for it. "You can't be fat and be an American Idol". Ruben Studdard won that year.

... no he didn't claim it as origional... however, he did let the judges and everyone else who didn't know otherwise make that assumption which... imo is just as bad.

1 vote per line seems dumb for a variety of reasons.

1) multiple ppl in a family (or roommates) can have diff opinions but may not have access to other phone lines or cell phones.

2) people who watch the show at other ppl's houses, similar to #1

if anything they should do it like the dancing show where the audience gets some say, but so do the judges.

^^are you retarded?

first of all, they don't have time to give the origin of the song they sing or their reasons for singing it or tell the judges how they should or shouldn't think or what assumptions to make.

secondly, everything is scripted...chris daughtry has no control over saying what he wants...so that makes you a douche for thinking a contestant has that much control over a show like american idol...they are just the puppets.

... NO...he had plenty of time to explain he was regurgitating Live's version of the song...

The fucking contestants get to talk about the songs they sing right before they perform... I specifically remember him explaining the meaning of the song... why Cash wrote it... why the song was meaningful to him... and which fucking wife he wrote it for. So don't give me that bullshit that he doesn't have time, cause he had plenty of time before and after the performance.

The show isn't completely scripted. The contestants are allowed to give their own review on how they perform after each song... which would have been a perfect time for Chris to give the props to Live like he should have.

...I never said anything to suggest that he deceived the audience on purpose. I doubt he has the intelligence to manipulate the show the way he did... However, after the performance happened and the judges gave him unearned props for being original he should have corrected them. That performance was a shitty copycat version of Live... yet everyone loved it and fell in love with him because of it.

I thought Simon Cowell was the head honcho for American Idol? Isn't he like a producer and didn't he bring it to America? I thought whoever won was produced by him?

They said Simon Cowell makes 36 million a year from Idol, and that definitely can't be from just being a judge.

he is an executive with the record lable 19 entertainment is the name. Simon Fuller brought the show to the states and it his record label. Now Cowell is pretty high up the chain but he doesn't call the shots.

I don't think they were praising him for being "original", I think they were praising him because he refused to due the basic versions that they were trying to force him to do. Like they were trying to get him to show a non-rock type of sound but he found rock versions of those songs and used those.

I don't think they ever said he put together the arrangements, just said he chose the arrangements and I think it was smart of him to find rock versions of songs like that to spice it up.

^^Well everyone knows that after the show he'll be doing something in the "rock" genre. The one thing I don't always get about American Idol is they try to make everyone sing all types of genre's which I don't think is very necessary. He SHOULD have stuck to rock, that was smart, why sing something he's not comfortable with and sound terrible when he could stick to his guns and do what he knows?(though some of his rock songs sounded bad and were bad songs to begin with)

Like having Katherine sing Elvis, it made no sense and she butchered his music. She won't make a cd sounding anything like that though.

^ he's right, he did say that now that i think about it.

^^ thats the diff between a good/mediocre singer and a great singer. you SHOULD be able to sing all types of music relatively well if you're going to be dubbed "one of the best." (obviously thats debatable, but it is the idea of the show). show some variety and depth.

I used to like Katharine a lot but she's gotten too full of herself over the last few weeks, and she's sucked. I used to like Tyler a lot, and still am fond of him, but he didn't sing very well for a couple shows in a row. Elliot became my favorite because he has the best voice. If you close your eyes and just listen, you'll be able to tell better which should win. In this case Elliot should. Especially since he's finally showing his personality on stage. He's had the best voice throughout, but was obviously nervous for several weeks. But now he seems comfortable on the stage.

Out of the three I'd have to disagree and say Elliot has better marketability merely because his voice is that much better. Katharine would do worst of the three, and Tyler may do best because he'd be doing more of his bluesy music than this pop/rock stuff.
