To all you Finance concentrations, do most of you have a minor in accounting...would it be a good idea for me to have that accounting background if I concentrate in Finance?

Im a finance major and no i dont have a minor in accounting. But im also going to the masters of accounting program at carolina and they wont take students that have over 12 hours of undergraduate accounting (so basically that eliminates the possibility of getting a minor, otherwise I would have one) . If you want to know how many extra hours it takes to minor in accounting ask Andy Nowell.

Basically your fine for finance classes. Bus 420, Bus 422, Bus 425, and Acc 411. You dont need to have an accounting background to concentrate in finance

I am graduating with a Finance concentration and the job outlook is suprisingly good also. I considered a minor in accounting but am glad I didn't do it. A lot of the people in the office will tell you that the programs are so similar that you should just pick one of them (they will likely tell you accounting)

i was a finance and an accounting major....the two go well together but...you dont have to have the accounting

im working for an accounting firm though so...whatever

I'm a finance major w/ an ACC minor. If you take ACC 411 as one of your finance concentration classes you only need to take ACC 330 and one other ACC minor approved class. So its not a whole lot of extra work.

ACC 330 is more of an introductory income tax class. You will learn a lot but in a simplified form. I thought it was extremely boring, but some of it is pretty useful to individuals and businesses.

For the last elective class, you can pick something that will be more relevant to what you want to do when you graduate. I would avoid ACC 310 or 311 unless you are trying to get into the NCSU MAC program.

TAKE THE FUCKING ACCOUNTING CLASSES

opens a lot of doors for you and could make you more marketable

in finance the foreign language really doenst do shit for you

the accounting classes will be a lot better for you
