VT's QB coach.

Takes me back to the days when we had the talent, but underperformed one season after another.

oh wait...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You don't have to be taken back for that. And MOC didn't have that much talent either.

I know..."oh wait...."

It's still funny.

His QB's always seem to overachieve in their first year or 2 and then underachieve the rest of the way.

Barnette and Whitehurst are good examples.

Whitehurst??????

And I don't if Barnette underachieved....he just seemed to be running for his life his last two years behind a shitty o-line. That was a tough ass mo-fo.

Barnette was a joke. Hell, I could have had Barnette's numbers if I was throwing to Holt.

^STFU.

Barnette was more of a man than anyone on here.

His senior year AFTER Torry graduated he still put up good numbers.

So this means he has traveled from State to
Carolina to
Clemson to
VT?

Where will his ACC tour take him after his next firing?

so is o'cains job history after leaving nc state, and the fact that he has jumped from one asst. job to the next never again achieving a head coach position at any level, any indication that his firing was justified? At the time I was glad to see him go but some were not. It seems like he will never get a head coaching job in D1 again, probably because he was not a great coach.

pretty much, he was on his ass more than he was on his feet
our o-line was terrible at protection.

Barnette wasn't great but he was gritty and had a lot of heart. His numbers really suffered after Holt left, mainly because Chris Coleman and Ryan Hamrick couldn't catch a cold during the 1st half of the '99 season.

Barnette suffered his senior season because of all the fucking shots he took. After he got laid out with that concussion, he never looked comfortable back there. He was a tough son of a bitch though...

Damn. I never knew having a dislike for Barnette would get people all uppity. I watched the guy play, I didn't much care for the way he did it. I also saw Holt twist himself and his routes in astounding ways to get to Barnette's throws. I'll give you tough, though. How could I not?

I calls 'em like I sees 'em. I'm asking for you to get over it.

(To answer a question, I don't think anything of Jay Davis that hasn't already been said a bajillion times here by someone with more colorful expressions than I care to muster.)

He's like the Star Wars prequels. I like to pretend they never existed.

Torry played all four years. Did he not get a degree? When I was a freshman, he was a junior and I went the FSU game in Tally when he went off for 5 TDs. The next year in 98 is when he had two more TDs (one was a punt return) and we pwned Weinke for 6 INTs. I know he was around for his senior year, but I don't know if he got his degree.

^ Damn that sucks. I guess he had to say peace to the Spring classes as he got ready to for the combine and draft. Hopefully he'll come back and get it one day.

why?

he's using 100 dollar bills to blow his nose with and 50's to wipe his ass.

what possible reason would he have to come back?

^ So NC State and anyone who ever talks about him can call him an alumni of our school, instead of "he went here". Regardless of how much bank he has now, I'm sure he personally would like to get it as well.

you are considered an alum if you just went to school for one day

yup that is correct. Look up the definition. If that is the case then I am John T Hoggard High Alum, Cape Fear Community College Alum, UNC-Wilmington Alum, N.C. State Alum. But jokes aside you really are an alum if you went to the school. You don't have to graduate.

Whitehurst's best year was his sophomore year. In both his junior and senior year he threw more interceptions than touchdowns. His line was partially to blame, but he definitely regressed as a passer.
