I've filled out a form in July and I still at least got loan aid.
But yeah, fill it out ASAP. If the University hasn't already given out its aid, you'll be bound to get some. 5/12/2006 12:33:20 AM |

I was picked this year to turn all this proof of the stuff it takes to fill out the FAFSA, just more work... You will most likely get next to nothing. The deadline for priority filing was March 1st, anything after that-you're on the back burner, but still eligible for loans and fewer grants. Hope that answers your question!

Yeah, it was explained to me very simply that it's just a random selection of 1 in 3 applicants. Some are repeats, some not. And the purpose is just to have something on file in case the university ever gets audited for financial aid reasons. It's no big deal unless you lied when filing, and if you mistyped something by accident, they just fix it for you. 5/12/2006 12:51:43 AM |

You get it the first day of classes.
I still haven't filed mine. Oops. I was late (mid April or so) before my sophomore year too and still ended up with plenty of money, though. And I get selected for verification every year too. 5/12/2006 1:18:03 AM |

I'd just copy last year's information but apparently my mom made a lot more money this year. She's coming up tomorrow so I'll probably get the info from her then.
I'm hoping that my EFC will still be 0 as usual. 5/12/2006 2:14:43 AM |

1) fin aid questions belong in study hall 2) turn in your FAFSA asap. it'll likely be mostly loans at this point. if you're poor enough, you might get a small grant or two 3) Quote : | "i got picked for that "random" verification EVERY semester i was in school" |
has nothing to do with criminal history. after having spoken with some friends who always get verified, and then one whose first verification came the year they got a LOT more than before, I've decided that there's a certain threshhold for aid that automatically gets you put on the list of people to verify. they want to make sure you REALLY are entitled to the pile they just gave you.5/12/2006 8:36:26 AM |

You are far from being alone on this matter. Lots of students are just now doing a FAFSA. While the priority deadline was March 1st, you can still turn it in. Yes, chances are that grant and need-based scholarship money may be used up by the time we get to your application. However, if your FAFSA EFC number is relatively low, you could still qualify for pell grants and need-based loans, such as Perkins and Subsidized Stafford Loans. Just get your FAFSA into the Federal Processor as quick as you can.

If you are a continuing student, then we must wait on your spring grades to be reviewed by our office to make sure that you have completed the requirements for our Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (aka, passing 24 credit hours in an academic year). If you fail to do so, you will need to appeal for financial aid in the fall. Also, if you are on probation or academic suspension, you are ineligible for financial aid. Continuing students who have completed all their necessary documents will hear about their financial aid within the first week of June.

Summer money, and all financial aid money for that matter, will disburse on the first day of classes of the corresponding semester. So if you got money for summer session one, it'll pay on May 22nd.5/12/2006 9:25:13 AM |

^I cannot speak for how another university handles their financial aid process. You would want to call that Financial Aid Dept. directly and ask them what their processing schedule is going to be. 5/12/2006 9:27:45 AM |
