ok, I'm a graduating senior and just failed BUS 370 for the second time. I'm 2.86 points from a D-. I talked to the teacher and he will not raise it. This is the only class I have left now and it lowered my major GPA to under 2.0 where I can't graduate. Is there anything I can do????

i hate to say this but probably not...the only thing you could try is to ask your professor to mark it incomplete and let you do work for the class over the summer...show your professor you want to earn the d...this could or could not work

I have heard of an exam re-take for seniors, but bus 370 is C wall class for business majors right?

I'm not sure on the gpa limitation, but I thought that if you were only a few classes shy of graduation and you were going to take those during the summer that they will go ahead and let you graduate? I've heard this from my department head, however it was not mentioned in the context of a gpa limitation, so I don't know. I would talk to your department head, advisor, etc.

it is not a C wall class, and I thought I had heard about an exam-retake too. If I took the final again (I made a D on it) and did better I would pass the class. I have a job lined up and everything. This sucks so bad they will let me walk at graduation, but I won't get my diploma.

I'd try hard for the exam re-take. If you can re-take the exam and get a higher grade, you're money.

I'm not tryin' to hate on you, but if you had 370 w/ Favre, you had every chance in the world to get your shit straight during the semester. That man is one of the friendliest and most helpful teachers in and outside of class I've ever met.

Your only option now is to convince your prof. for an exam re-take or take it during the summer. All the best...

from another thread:

How the hell did you get a job with grades like you must have? No offence, but if you failed this class twice, you don't deserve a degree.

http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/courses_undergrad/REG02.20.14.php

Quote :
"7. REEXAMINATION FOR SENIORS

A reexamination in one course may be granted to a senior under the following conditions:

7.1. that all other degree requirements have been met and the satisfactory completion of that course would make the student eligible for graduation;

7.2. that the course for which the reexamination is requested has been taken not more than twelve months before the intended date of graduation;

7.3. that the office of the dean of the college in which the student is enrolled certifies that the above conditions have been met; and

7.4. that the department offering the course for which the reexamination is requested approves the request.

The reexamination must be based on the total subject matter of the course and must be taken not later than one month after the date of the intended graduation. The only grades which can be given on a reexamination are C (+/-), D (+/-), or F. If the grade received on the reexamination is higher than the original grade on the course, the higher grade will replace the original grade, which will affect the cumulative grade point average. The student may not take a second reexamination under the policy.

Applications for reexamination can be obtained in the office of the dean of each college. The completed application with the new grade indicated must be delivered to the Department of Registration and Records by the instructor and will be used to change the grade on the student's academic record.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AS A SENIOR TO RE-TAKE THE EXAM NO MATTER WHAT THE PROFESSOR SAYS. IF IT IS THE DECIDING FACTOR IF YOU GRADUATE YOU CAN RETAKE IT!

GET ON IT.

no one should fail 370 unless you dont go to class at all and dont study

let alone 2x

ps if they offer it in the summer and you take it then, you can still walk

Bit late into the day ... sorry I didn't post more earlier. I hope you made a bunch of phone calls today, including finding out whether or not you could walk. They'll grant exceptions for walking if you talk to people ... even if the envelope you receive has nothing in it ... they need to make sure your name is on the graduation programs/etc.

I walked in May but didn't graduate till August.

How in the hell do you fail BUS 370 twice?? I hope Morissette wasn't one of the teachers that failed you and I hope there were other circumstances that led to you failing. Because that's just sad.
