my laptop recently froze so i restart it but it goes thru and begins loading windows then a dos type screen comes on saying something like:

your computer was recently shut down..
it may have shut down during a power outage...

it gives my five different options to choose:

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode....

most recent settings
startup windows

no matter what I choose it goes thru the startup process and then comes back to this screen.

try booting from a cd
