Actually I have been taking Biotin and it takes about 3 months to notice a difference but once I had been taking it for that long the difference is noticeable. 5/23/2006 5:48:34 PM |

Do you use product?
If so, switch to Suave's daily clarifying, and pick a light conditioner. You should be good to go within a week or two, if hair products are the cause. If this alone doesn't solve it, try and isolate which product is causing damage. 5/23/2006 6:34:10 PM |

If you use shampoos and conditioners that contain silicone and other 'cones, then you might be experiencing a build up of those on your hair and it could be drying and dulling your hair. Trying a clarifying shampoo might help. Otherwise, it's probably a nutrition issue and taking a multivitamin along with something like GNC's hair and nail formula would help. 5/24/2006 11:39:15 PM |

Diet is important, and taking a multivitamin should definitely help.
That apart, I've found that hot oil treatments are extremely helpful (or even regular Olive Oil massage to your scalp and hair 3 hours before shampoo helps a lot!). Try to pick products with UV screens if possible, and of all the shine serums I prefer Redken Glass the best.
If any of that doesn't work, try going longer between color treatments for your hair, and I know this may sound gross, but avoid shampooing your hair everyday -- just rinsing with water and conditioner every once in a while instead of using harsh shampoos can help. 5/25/2006 12:09:25 AM |

thanks for all the helpful replies
i have switched shampoos to see if that will help, but i already take a multivitamin and my diet hasn't really changed (if it has its for the better) over the past few years
i'll look into some of the supplements and maybe a clarifying shampoo
my hair already feels better after just switching shampoos/conditioners 5/25/2006 10:27:47 AM |

i didnt read the whole thread but avoiding a lot of the store brand conditioners can help...some actually "wax" your hair and make it look dull over time. i suggest herbal essences conditioner or the stuff you get out of the salon. 5/26/2006 11:00:57 PM |

my sister had the same thing going on (she's 25) and she started using this stuff (i know because she was raving about it) called "Fudge Oomf," and her hair looks awesome now (i think she uses both the shampoo and conditioner). i looked it up and it's a little expensive, but i always think you should pay a little extra and get the best quality. 5/27/2006 9:05:45 AM |

Quote : | " If enough Linoleic Acid (Omega6) is present in the dog's diet, the other fatty acids can be synthesized within the dog. The simplest way to assess the possibility a deficiency is to take a close look at your pet... really up-close! If the skin is dry and flaky and the coat actually feels greasy and dull and has a coarse texture, there's an excellent chance the pet is not getting high quality fats in the diet. Remember, the coat may actually feel oily or greasy and have a rancid odor and yet dog may have a fat intake deficit. This effect is common in dogs on cheap "reducing" diets because the first thing a manufacturer does in formulating a "reduced calorie diet" is to cut the total fat content of the diet to reduce total calories. The dog or cat may not even loose weight but the potential for a Fatty Acid deficiency is quite probable." |

you could try that Glaze stuff by John Frieda, I've never used it myself. It's a bit expensive though so before buying I would try and find someone who can tell you if it works or not
also I've done the VO5 hot oil treatment, and used plain olive oil. They both made my hair very soft and shiny 5/27/2006 10:14:20 AM |
