this is just an easy way for dell to bring in $texas.

I guess it's official now ... Google Desktop has been installed on Dell Systems since Jan I think.

^ no way in hell since jan. i just got a new dell desktop for my mom within the past month and it had nothing from google installed on it.

I've ordered two machines from Dell for people in the last 2 months and both had Google Desktop installed if I remember correctly.

good for both...while personally it annoys me to no end to have to remove the crap pc manufacturers put on the computer for my "convenience", google really IS good at what it does, and i think that the average user will find the google desktop to be of benefit to them (once they learn to use it, of course)...if i ever buy a new dell i'll probably just remove it like i do with every other new computer, but eh

that's really weird. mine came from Home as well and it had nothing installed from google. i would know too since i took off a lot of the preinstalled crap they put on for my mom. very odd.

i'm pretty sure you can choose different schemes (same as using win2k style on winxp)

My soon to be mother-in-law just came in this week for the wedding and today she had me take a look at her laptop because she doesn't know what she is doing... Its a dell m600 she bought a month ago and sure enough there was Google Desktop on it.
