So what are the best and worst? I figure I've missed plenty of movies, just hopefully nothing obvious. Anyways, rank them however you'd like.

Aliens vs. Predator (I include this since the idea came from comics first)
Batman 1&2 (Burton)
Batman Begins
Blade Trilogy
Conan the [insert adjective] series
The Crow
Dick Tracy
Fantastic Four
From Hell
Hellboy
Hulk
The Mask
Men in Black series
Punisher
The Rocketeer
Sin City
Spawn
Spider-man series
Superman series
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series
V for Vendetta
X-Men series

Shitty movies that I'm betting no one lists in their top 5:
(BarbWire, Batman 3&4 (Bat Nipples), Captain America, Catwoman, Constantine, Daredevil, Elektra, Judge Dredd, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Steel, Supergirl, Tank Girl, Vampirella)

[Edited on May 28, 2006 at 10:20 AM. Reason : Bat Nipples]

league of extrraordinary gentlemen wasnt that bad and neither was judge dredd when i was little.

i liked LXG better than fantastic 4, mib2, probably xmen1, or any of the later crows.

Top:
Spiderman 2

Bottom:
Batman and Robin
Hulk
Fantastic Four
Judge Dredd
Spawn

My fav is probably Hellboy.

Why? Because they somehow got the mood and spirit of the books just right. Sure they had to make a couple changes, but who cares? They hit the dry/dark humor spot on. They carried gloomy noir-ish setting over to the film brilliantly. Ron Perlman was without a doubt the best 'known' actor for the part. Plus I think it's great that they didn't try to rely solely on CGI.

I didn't even bother distinguishing between the old and new punisher.

Who the hell would list the old one as a good movie?

the comic book movie that most directly did an adaptation of the comic itself was handsdown sin city. that movie was literally taken directly from the comic. The dialogue was the same, even the shots were the same as the comic frames. I also rank this as one of my favorites

Agreed, Sin City is the best that has been made, not only for being a good adaptation but just for being a good movie.

Sin City had everything anyone could want in a movie. I'm surprised no one mentioned the sequels to Dark Man. Liam Neeson was only in the first one, and it's easy to see why he didn't come back.

Good: Batman Begins, Hellboy, Sin City, Spider-Man 1, X-Men 1 & 3

Quite Flawed But Worthwhile: Daredevil (Yes, I thought it was better than Punisher.)

Mediocre: Punisher

Bad Yet Still Awesome: Tank Girl

Bad: Hulk

Yeah, I could certainly see Sin City on top. If I had read the comics, or if that horrible samurai chick hadn't been in the movie, I probably would have called it "Great."

My faves in order:

Hellboy
Batman Begins
Sin City
X-Men 1 & 2
Spider-man 1 & 2
From Hell
Batman
The Crow
Blade 1

I like others, like F4 and even LXG... I just don't see the point in listing all of them.

I still haven't seen the Fantastic Four movie, mainly because I think seeing what they did to Victor will be physically painful for me.

That exchange between Sue and Doom in the trailer is even worse than Storm's line to Toad.

The problem with F4 was that it really wasn't a superhero movie. Besides the last 10 minutes of the movie, there wasn't much "super" about it and the characters were hardly being "heros". Not to mention that 90% of the movie previews were from the last 10 minutes.

Really, the movie was just the characters being put in pedestrian situations with a mediocre use of their powers.

I honestly think I liked constantine the best, with spiderman 1 a close second.

i enjoyed (not in preference order)
batman begins
Blade Triology
the Crow
Hellboy
MIB I
The Rocketeer (I expected campy and was happy with what I got...)
Spiderman2
Daredevil
TMNT
XMEN 1 and 2
Tank Girl (see Rocketeer note)
League

Things I was neutral on
The something tommorow one done in the very campy 20s style. Once again, campy and i anted it that way.
The Mask

Things I didnt Enjoy
XMen 3
Fantastic Four
Sin city - but not for the plot or anything like that, various scenes very much bothered me (to the point i felt sick), but I will happily admit it was wonderfully done and acted, I just cannot take the level of violence and such that was in that one.
The Crow : City of Angels (the craptastic sequel)

The only thing outstanding on my list of to watch movies though in this genre is V for Vendetta
OH! And Ghost Rider when it comes out, but only becuase Nickolas (i cant spell) Cage is in it!!!!

[Edited on May 29, 2006 at 2:12 AM. Reason : b/c Cage is awesome]

I thought the Spiderman series was pretty spot-on, and should be up top. I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed X-Men, but that's probably because I always liked Spiderman more than the X-Men to begin with.

I don't know, I always felt like they could have done a lot more with the characters in X-Men. It seems like they picked shitty villains, and didn't let the heroes shine enough. Is there any excuse for Cyclops being such a pussy? You can count the number of times he fires his eye lasers in the trilogy on one hand. He does absolutely nothing and then gets taken out like the trash.

Wolverine, until the 3rd movie, basically got the shit stomped out of him all the time too. Why was Toad in the first movie, again? Also, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH SABERTOOTH

I don't know, I could go on and on and on about this kind of shit. I enjoyed the movies either way, but damn if I don't have to make a lot of excuses for them. Spiderman probably had an easier time with that kind of thing because there aren't as many characters to fuck up.

Totally agree. I've been reading Punisher for years and I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie. People don't seem to realize that so much of the movie was taken directly from the comics.

Punisher 2 is slated to start filming in January, according to Thomas Jane's website. Current rumor has it that Michael Keaton will play Jigsaw.
