My comp just tried to do some odd update as the comp was shutting down after the internet had crashed & when I turned my comp back on (internet was still down) it said I didn’t have genuine windows & may have been a victim of software fraud & only had a fix now & resolve later option. I choose resolve later, logged into xp, ran a virus scan which found nothing… I’ve tried rebooting a few times, got internet back, checked the programs listed on the add remove programs & the currently running programs, and nothing looks out of the ordinary?

Is this a 1 time fluke caused by the internet shutting down at an odd time (maybe during automatic updates), or some bug trying to download bad stuff onto my comp? What should I do now that things seem to be back to normal?

if its says you dont have genuine windows and you DO, just call the number listed in the windows booklet and get a new CD Key.

I bought this comp just before coming to state… since living in Mt. Airy I’ve lived in Sullivan, Bragaw, Metcalf, Ut, Sumter Square, and just recently moved to Chapel Hill after graduating. I don’t think I have any books or cd keys or phone numbers left (unless it was on the cd that I’ve reformatted with or the student edition of an office suite of software with powerpoint and what not).

I choose resolve later, but its not asking me again not matter how many times I turn it off and on. It is an honest copy. As long as it doesn’t ask me again am I in the clear? When would it ask me again if it was going to?

you could always manually run the genuine advantage tool
