ok this is really weird. last night during the thunderstorms i was on my desktop. we had a bit of a power surge in the house but the computer stayed on and didnt appear to be affected. to be on the safe side i turned it off and didnt use it until now. when i start it up, i get a windows activation prompt right when entering the desktop that says i have 3 days to activate windows. i reformatted my computer well over 1.5 months ago and it was activated properly then and never once received this prompt. now when i click to activate it, it says it has already been activated. has anyone ever gotten this? how do i fix this? i really do not want to have my system inoperable in 3 days due to "not activating" windows.

so just reactivate it. why do people worry about this? if you have a legal copy of windows, the WORST possible scenario is you sit on the phone for literally 5 minutes and get it reactivated that way

i cant; it was activated when i did my reinstall. when i click activate now in the box at startup it says "windows has already been activated." it comes up every time i restart and i get the same message of it already being activated each time.
