so the guys at the tire place got in an argument over my tires and if they would fit on my wheels

I'm gettin 33x12.5's on my truck with wheels that are 8" wide. I didn't think it would be a problem at all but one of the guys at the tire place said it wouldn't fit. The owner said they would and they started shit about it and i said that i'd be back.

Anybody ever have a problem fittin a 12.5" wide tire on an 8" wheel?

i'd go to tirerack.com or one of those sites to see if they list it as an acceptable configuration

I have 33x12.50s on my 15x8"s. No problems at all.

i can't believe anyone would evem question that, 8-10" is standard for 12.50's, 8" being easy to seat the beads, 10" being a bitch and a half

all the tire places bitch about this... when it actually makes the tire perform better off road and imho look better on the car.

the 8" wheel will allow you to run lower pressure in the tire and NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT POPPING A BEAD.

i know they say it makes the tread arc slightly and i'm sure it does but if you have a 15 or 16 inch wheel there is plenty of sidewall that will keep that to a minimum (not noticeable)

frankly i think tire places just don't like to wrestle the tire on the wheel.

Man. Things sure have changed in the last 10 or 15 years.

I remember when a lot of manufacturers were putting 31x10.50s on 7 inch wheels, and they were PERFECT.

I had 30x9.50s on my Trooper with its factory 6" wheels with no ill effects; if anything I had plenty of tread touching the ground (a perfect contact patch) and NO sidewall flexing.

There is NO reason a 33x12.50 won't fit an 8" rim well and perform well. Like everybody else said, it'll be advantageous if you decide to air down, as you won't lose a bead nearly as quickly. And if you pop a bead, they're a lot easier to seat with low pressure than if on a 10" wheel.

And I'll bet 10 dolla that you'll have a fine footprint, as well as something that doesn't feel like it's gonna pitch your truck out of a curve.

i have 35x12.50's on an 8 in rim, and if/when i step up to 36.12.50 i'll probably keep an 8 in rim.

go to the tire manufacturer's site and look it up.
Ex. BFG all terrains, assuming 15" need 8.5 minimum
