If the timing belt breaks, will valves hit pistons and mess things up or will the engine just stop running until it gets replaced? I believe the engine is an F22A1. Quick searches here, on google, on hondaaccordforum.com, and in the haynes manual haven't turned up much. Thanks.

Damn. Thanks. The shop that did the pre-purchase inspection wanted about $700 for that but that included the water pump. How much would you want for a job like that?

I had a place in Mebane do my wife's car. I bought the parts then paid them either $200 or $250 for the labor. They lost the timing cover gasket and several special screws that secure the timing cover. And 3 years later my crank bolt came loose. So you get what you pay for.
