I maybe could let you borrow some of my stuff.
I would of course require collateral of some kind.
I would be free, and in raleigh after monday.

^^that would be excellent. give me a call if ya wouldn't mind. 919-412-3669 ^ it is a pos 98 plymouth breeze with a million problems. figured i would start with the silly shit before i dive into replacing the fuel pump, ac unit, and figuring out how come the tranny slips so bad al of a sudden. If anyone has a work acount or something i would compensate if i could get some hook ups on future parts.

thanks

are you replacing the rotors (or having the rotors turned at least)?

The idiot who had this car before she bought it 7 months ago replaced the rotors on it but never did the pads. I don't know why, but he has the maintenance receipt for the rotors. so in short, no i am not replacing the rotors- I would like to have them serviced but don't know anyone who would do them for cheap. let me know if you have any input on this

what's wrong with the AC unit. Mechanic told me my AC compressor was leaking and I would have to get a new one for my old '86 626. Car was worth maybe $1500 at the time and he wanted $800 for the new compressor installed.

I got a seal kit from mazda for $19. It was only a damn o-ring with a couple springs and shit but only the o-ring was bad. Bought an r-134a conversion kit from NAPA for next to nothing and repaired it myself. I did not evacuate the system correctly like I should have but it lasted at least until I got rid of the car 4-5 years later.

[Edited on June 17, 2006 at 2:01 PM. Reason : ^ it cost next to $0 to have rotors turned assuming the shop has a machine to do it on the car.]

Anything else you spend on this car is flushing money down the shitter. Unless of course it's just low on fluid. Then...top it off and just patch everything else.

No sense in dropping $bank on a car that could shit the bed any day now.

yeah that is kind of my thought as well- I already changed the tranny fluid about a month ago as well as the filter- didn't slip at all for like 2 weeks and now it's back at it. tried dumping some tran ex in there and did nothing. I'll prolly leave it alone and wait for it to die only she really needs this car to last another year. I mean she only paid $2400 for it but was reall bankin on getting a couple years.

^^not sure with the ac- power surges and engine shakes when it is on. any ideas? as far as the rotors- some douchbag wanted $40 to "service" them. seams like a waste

DID YOU USE MOPAR 7176 SPEC FLUID?!!

Better known at all auto parts stores and garages as ATF +3.

You HAVE to use the Chrysler spec fluid in these transmissions or they WILL SHIT THE BED.

These transmissions are designed for the torque converter to sometimes operate in a semi-locked up mode. Using a fluid without the proper friction modifiers will cause shudder and possible slippage and eventual failure.

Dexron III(E) WILL NOT DO.

Dude, if I was gonna fuck with you...I'd at least buy you dinner first and give you a reacharound.

Serious. Go read the owner's manual. Go online. Google Chrysler transmission.

The ATF +3 is the only thing they recommend.

You could take the shortcut way out and get a bottle of the Lubetech Friction modifier in the black bottle (costs about 14 bux) and put that in there. Carquest has it.

http://www.getautohelp.com/automotive_products/61910.html

But the absolute best thing to do period is to put ATF +3 in there. Yes, you do need to flush it if it has Dexron in it.
