ok, so i went and bought madden 06 today and wtf it does the disc read error. tried adjusting the lens, cleaning the lens, cleaning the cd and still nothing loads. i even went back to ebgames and returned the first copy cause i told them it was scratched up too much. got a better one and it still won't load. it's the only freaking game that is doin this. it's an older model scph 30001. anybody got any suggestions? maybe buy a new laser? i know it's sorta having trouble reading sometimes and it could get loud, especially putting madden 06 in.

yeah i actually got the ps2 to read it as a playstation cd when fiddling with the laser but once i select it makes a lot of noise and doesn't load. it's only that game which makes it frustrating, sucks cause i want to play it!

I have a ps2 with a mod chip in and I have to lean it to the right to make the games read. Maybe it might help.

My friend had this problem, but it was a game rented from Blockbuster. Turns out he accidently rented an Xbox game for his PS2 and didnt realize it til after he picked up a 2nd copy that didnt work, and had messed with it for an hour.

yeah i've leaned it to the upright position and it still didn't work. think if i modded the ps2 the backup of madden would work? i mean this is the only freaking game i've had a problem with. it's pretty stupid that this single game is kicking my ass. oh yeah what's the going rate on here for modding a ps2? any takers?

If it's the only game you're having problem with, then it's probably the disc itself. Your PS2 shouldn't be giving you DRE's with DVD games. My PS2 only dre'd with older games that were on purple-bottom discs (Tekken Tag, Midnight Club).

Did you buy it sealed, brand new? If it was opened and/or used, return it and buy another copy.

i had the same problem with a brand new gran turismo 4. all other games loaded fine.

i adjusted the laser and it worked fine for a few more months, then it totally shit the bed and wont play anything now.

it is the only disc that does it
and it works fine in another ps2

well pretty sure it isn't the disc...the first one i bought (used) i put it in and it didn't work and pretty much thought it was too scratched. I returned it and asked for a less scratched one and put it in and same thing. The darn thing just won't load. Piece of shit is getting on my nerves.

Also has anyone have any reviews on HD Advance 3.0? This is just a boot disk correct? I don't have to mod the ps2 to read the software do I? As long as I have a network adapter, had advance and a hard drive then I don't have to mod it correct?

i mentioned i had a couple of teh old big ps2s and they messed up

my slim one has yet to mess up

another cool thing about the slim ones is if you get some dirty disc error, you can open the cd "tray" (even though it doesnt slide out, its more like a discman's door), take out the disc, wipe it off, put it back in, close the "tray" and continue your game, unlike tray loading systems that usually go back to the homescreen...unless you use the old gameshark knife trick...but
