So I was flipping through channels and I come to "Elimidate" on the WB, where there are two very attractive girls left. So the guy gets them to kiss, but all they show is the reaction of the guy. The guy then makes out with them a little, until they get tired of him, and they show every bit of it. Is it illegal for network tv to show girls kissing at 1:30 at night/morning?

Oh......and the girls were way out of the guy's league, so they end up eliminating him and going off with each other.

Buffy had lesbians on it. they didn't show any kisses for about 2 years, then in the 3rd season with them, they kissed and it showed them in bed together.

Cruel Intentions is shown on ABC Family

[Edited on June 18, 2006 at 9:40 AM. Reason : ok, not really since that's not a network station -- but still, it seems relevant to mention]

Elimidate is syndicated, so it's possible they did it just to make sure the episode would be shown on every network affiliate instead of it not showing on the affiliates who didn't want to "push the envelope" and show girls making out.

I was listening to "The Splendid Table" on WUNC earlier (produced by American Public Media, don't you know), and this lady had called in asking about different types of Italian bread. Jane Stern was telling this caller named Amy about where to find country loaves in Los Angeles with some recommendations of different things to ask for and try out. Amy said something like, "I'm sure my wife will enjoy all the things I'm going to make her sample now, thanks!"

Strangely enough, the world has continued spinning in the hour or so since.

It's public radio, though. It's been fags and Italian bread on there since, like, 1986.

I don't listen to public radio

I prefer listening to groups like t.A.T.u. on my favorite ClearChannel station.

I kind of hate Dick Gordon, honestly.

But I liked The Connection.

I disliked his ease of editorializing instead of moderating.

that's a non-issue on "the story"

you just get his soothing voice

and stories that aren't nearly as irritatingly overproduced and glib as "this american life"

[Edited on June 18, 2006 at 1:53 PM. Reason : in fact, half of fuck ira glass is fuck his voice]

http://www.thislife.org/

There are live streams of our local public radio affiliate available on their website at http://www.wunc.org/, and iTunes has a number of popular public radio shows available in podcast form.

Right on the money. I read a story about how Blind Date doesn't have any gay dates because they have to sell to very conservative markets. This was about 3 years ago so things may have changed now.

"Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!" is funny. Given the times that I am able to listen while driving to G-boro I am usually relegated to hearing mainly the BBC World Service. It's okay sometimes and has even vicariously made me have a remote interest in football.

"This American Life" is by far the teh winz. I miss the Connection. I would like for Dick Gordon to get more airtime. Diane Rehm Show has some good topics but her voice makes me want to eat a bullet.

I too love me some public radio.

Some favorites are:
Thistle and Shamrock
Sound and Spirit
This American Life
From the Top
Prairie Home Companion
Car Talk
Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me

and I like the Writer's Almanac short, though I get that mailed to me now. WHQR in Wilmington has better weekend programming, so I usually pipe that through online.
