I'm debating if i want to go all the way for the shoei, or if i just want to get a decent cheap helmet. I was also considering this for $129. I just dont know if the shoei is worth all that extra money

well its in excess of about $30,000 if your basing it on tuition. Its a snell approved helmet, so im guessing its fairly good 6/19/2006 7:34:13 PM |

can't go wrong with a kbc, the tk-77 is a decently priced good helmet 6/19/2006 10:41:35 PM |

Shoei.
Used helmets go pretty cheap on eBay.
I've got an RF-800 that I like a lot, but I fucked it up using it as a 4 wheeler helmet. 6/20/2006 12:12:57 AM |

if you are gonna buy one online, def. make sure you try the same size and model on at a sore first. size, fit and weight vary quite a bit.
i fell pretty safe in my 70 dollar vega and i, drop it once or twice a day and not sweating over it. i cant really own an expensive helmet same way i cant own expensive sunglasses - too careless 6/20/2006 12:46:12 AM |

i was gonna get that same rf 1000 and as i still hear, it's the best helmet out there. i got me a kbc instead, but, if you go to cycle gear, they will tell you that's the best helmet out there right now 6/20/2006 12:53:32 AM |

I wear an RF-1000 and absolutely love it. For one thing, the venting rocks and I hear it's way better than cheaper helmets. Plus, I ride pretty hard and the extra money was worth it for me. I don't think you can really go wrong if it's full face and Snell rated though. 6/20/2006 8:10:18 AM |

i have that same helmet. cept i paid 2 something for it or 180 something mine was flat black. has protected my head after 1 looping, one lay down at about 50 and my friend wrecking on my pocket bike. it's still going strong. 6/20/2006 9:07:02 AM |

^^ That's why I'd trust a new AFX more than a used Shoei bought from a stranger on eBay. 6/20/2006 12:29:45 PM |

works for me, although I don't go around "testing" my gear out like you. it's solid and inexpensive. my only gripe is that the lens fogs up very easily making it impossible to drive in certain weather

the lense fogs up way to easily, it brakes to easily, the padding is shitty and wears out in a couple of weeks...the vents suck ass..the wind noise sucks ass.
i mean but hey go with what you like right? 6/20/2006 5:24:32 PM |

Mine never fogged up... i rode in all weather conditions. Noise? well that seems to be based on what you think is load. It was a lot better than my skydiving helmet! But point taken. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in! 6/20/2006 5:28:53 PM |

in 30/40 degree weather it fogged up really bad. and on rainy days u could forget it. 6/20/2006 5:44:50 PM |

yeah, rain and cold weather did fog things up really bad really quick but after trying on my friend's shoei, the padding felt no different and after riding a bit, the noise and ventilation proved to be the same 6/20/2006 6:07:27 PM |

I have two hjc and two kbc helmets. All work for me pretty good. I like my hjc's better since they both have more venting. btw kyle, if your fogging up your helmet, you can do one of two things. Open the visor just a crack, or do corrective breathing (exhale out of your mouth). If its high humidity, then most helmets will have fogging problems. I just ride with visor fully up when its raining. 6/20/2006 7:16:51 PM |
