Thank you to my dog who spilled an entire cup of coffee on my carpet while I was out last night.
I scrubbed as best I could but it still looks like shit.
Anyone know any good tricks? 6/21/2006 2:07:25 PM |

pour water on it, and put dry towels/paper towels on top. weight them down.
They'll soak up the water, as well as coloring from the coffee.
Was it just coffee, or was there dairy? 6/21/2006 2:14:30 PM |

soak in spray n' wash, use a paper towel to get up the excess until the carpet is just damp, mix some laundry detergent with some very very hot water, pour on stain, dab up with a towel or paper towels 6/21/2006 4:27:45 PM |

Mix up about 20 gallons of coffee. Spread evenly over whole room. Shampoo carpet with Rug Doctor. Enjoy your tan/brown carpet for years to come. 6/21/2006 4:34:59 PM |

One thing I have found to work well on some stains is just mixing baking soda with water to form a paste, then rubbing that into the fabric with a toothbrush. The thing I like about it is it doesn't leave the sticky residue that some other methods leave, and when it dries you can vacuum up most of the baking soda, and the rest should come up with a damp towel or sponge. I'm not sure it would work with coffee (never tried it), but it's worked on some other tough, set-in stains, and you probably have some on hand somewhere. 6/22/2006 12:27:05 AM |

Steam clean the dog and stop giving him so much caffeine. He obviously can't handle it. 6/22/2006 12:29:26 AM |

Simple Green got coffee out of my carpet when my cat spilled it, but i also got to it immediately You also dont want to use too many cleaners or the residue will make the carpet both collect dirt and look funky.
I have one of those little spot carpet cleaners if you're in raleigh, i'd be happy to let you borrow it for a day. It's noisy as FUCK though. 6/22/2006 8:40:24 AM |
