those rankings should really put things into perspective for some of you.

Perhaps you'll realize now that losing Larry Davis and Dan Werner is trivial.

It just opens up scholarships for similar or better talents.... we are never going to have trouble landing fringe top 100 recruits.

in all honesty though, i dont think we are going to be able to land huge recruits when they can play the same system down the road at unc or duke.

yeah but as long as UNC & Duke get the elite 1-2 year players and we get the ~top 50 four year players then we should be able to compete with them just fine.

Yes they will have seasons when we cant touch them (UNC '05) but they will also have seasons when they are depleted of talent (UNC '06)

The problem was that even with superior talent, Herb would get dominated because of his shoddy system.

i would not call last years unc team a team of "depleted talent". young and inexperienced? yes. but not talent depleted.

I do not understand why guys like the #43 and #67 would still want to "play" for UNC if they really have any desire to actually play. Obviously they'll get to win and say they went to UNC, but when 4 other dudes in your OWN class are better than you, plus the recruits that will follow after you, you are basically deciding to give up a chance to make an impact somewhere else.

^^ they started what... 2 freshmen and 2 walkons? And a fringe top 100 recruit in Reyshawn Terry...

That team had jack shit in terms of talent compared to us...

Herb just didnt have the testicular fortitude to play.

You mean that one freshmen who was College Basketball's Freshmen of the year?? And Terry was a top 50-60 player...he was higher rated than about 60% of our team. The rest of their freshmen were all top 5 at their position in the country.

I liked the way UNC recruited this year. They got 3 top 10 players that will produce instantly and likely be gone in no more than 2 years. And then they got 3 4-star guys that can learn next year, get some PT, and likely be 4 year guys. Smart move.

^come on. This team is in DIRE need of big men. This is a guy in the 05/06 class that will atleast give us a body.....hes 7'2. I mean, if nothing else, he is a practice player. Its not like this is the kind of talent we are seriously going after.

^Really? Thanks for the lesson.

I mean that they actually rate the players that far.

That means this kid would not probably start for Campbell.

because they'll be 4 year guys. most of the top 10 guys will leave after 1 year.

^But they'll keep getting recruited over. They commit because they have confidence and they think they can play...and they probably love UNC. You won't have too many kids commit to a school thinking that will be bench warmers for 4 years.

NEWSFLASH:

Hello certain dumbasses on this board, Herb is gone, been gone for about 3 months now. Quit your fucking bitching about it. Heres another newsflash, he left us. Now he had some pressure here, but you know why he had pressure?? Failure to beat rivals. No one is saying Lowe is the greatest hire we couldve made, but he does deserve a chance.

So people like ncstatetke and many others like him that won't even give Lowe a chance and are still whining about us "running Herb out of town", plz STFU. There is a nice board over there on InsideCarolina.com if you would like to continue being a dumbass. Perfect example some dumbass where I work got a personalized liscence plate to say ASUHOOPS. Its fucking stupid and pisses me off. Lets move on, i hate to see what some of you do when a girl breaks up with you.

Just because they're #43 or #67 doesn't mean they won't come in to college, get used to the pace of the game and learn the system, and completely dominate.. same for the top 10's, they may not add up to shit.

Scout has Thomas rated as a 3-Star, which is sad that the best player from NC is only rated a 4-Star. Hopefully with a good summer and strong Senior year he'll be able to move up though.

just b/c hte 'experts' rank them 40 doesnt mean that the player himself thinks he is 40
