If you look on the bookstore's website, there's a thing where it says ORDER TEXTBOOKS ONLINE. Look at the classes they were for and see ifthey're still used. 6/22/2006 4:58:59 PM |

^yeah, but sometimes one class doesn't use the book anymore but another might. they're always doing changes to classes. it'd be more of a bitch than you'd imagine.
i'd post them here/for sale, and see if you have any luck. or post on craigslist. some people like to buy textbooks for 'fun'/personal use/not just for a class. 6/22/2006 6:26:51 PM |

Don't some off campus bookstores, like Hillsborough St Text books and Adam's and Packbackers buy ANYTHING back? I'm pretty sure they do - I have a friend who goes to IU who sold back some of his books there because the IU bookstore wasn't going to give him jack squat for the books, and they gave him more. 6/22/2006 6:42:54 PM |

look on amazon.com to see if any of them have new editions out. If any do it's HIGHLY unlikely any textbook store around here will buy it back. I've had a couple of classes where a new edition came out while the semester was in progress and none of the stores would buy it back. Your best bet may be to just put them on ebay. I mean at this point I'd take whatever I could get for them unless it was something I may actually use later.
If they are still in use, then right now you're not going to get much money for them because stores already have ordered all their books for the fall. About half way through the semester is the best time to sell but by that time you risk a new edition coming out or a teacher no longer using the book, etc..

the ncsu bookstore is starting a program where they share used books w/ ecu and unc, so you might check and see if they will buy your books back. 6/22/2006 10:13:50 PM |

Type the ISBN number into half.com ... that'll give you a good indication of what the books go for in terms of price.
And don't worry about whether or not it's the most recent edition / still "in use". For classes that don't require HW out of the book, I know several people who bought/used previous editions of textbooks that contain 95% of the same information and cost about 1/3 of the price. Bookstores won't take them back but for a minimal price, but you can probably sell your $120 science textbook for $20 online. 6/23/2006 6:16:03 AM |

or try a local used bookstore (such as Ed McKay on Capital) you won't get much out them, but if you just want to get rid of them.... 6/23/2006 11:20:53 AM |

^eh even Ed McKays is picky. i took a large box of textbooks and other books I didn't want, and left with 3/4 of the original box.
this was in Greensboro, but still. 6/23/2006 12:19:47 PM |
