Looking to get $500 out of this. It's one of the most powerful sub-desktop replacements you can get. Currently the fan needs to be replaced for accelerated video to render properly. I have a replacement fan, just haven't gotten around to taking this apart and replacing it. I'll probably go ahead and do the repair if I get some serious interest. On ebay they're selling for a little over $500 with either this issue or monitor hinge issue. I had the entire case replaced under warranty and the monitor hinge issue is gone. In perfect condition these are fetching over $700. Don't be fooled by 64mb of video ram, I can play hl2 and wow at fairly high settings with no issues.

I have also upgraded the ram to 768mb.

Since I've been using this with XP pro and I don't have original xp home disks I will put your choice of the vista beta or a custom xp home sp2 slipstreamed iso on here. BIOS has been updated to support sp2.

Once again, what's wrong with video? Is it working at all? Some artifacts in games or what?

someone would have to upgrade the hdd if they want a gaming laptop, so you should figure that into the price

20 gb might be suitable 6 or 7 decent games/programs

not to mention the 64MB video card... wouldn't be able to run any games that came out in the past year or 2 at playable framerates.

Obviously you've never used the laptop. I am able to play wow and half-life2 at 60fps+ on here with medium or higher settings and ut2k4 runs at 100+fps. I've played through an entire AV in class on it before with a high enough framerate to cap 3 flags.

I switched the drive to an ibm 20gb because the 2 60gb's emachines gave me broke (I think they were refurbs) and this ibm has been rock solid since I put it in.

Anyway, the current issue with video is artifacting after a few minutes due to poor heat dissipation. This is because the video fan is broken. I have a new fan, I just haven't swapped it yet. If I get some interest I'll take the time to do so, otherwise I might just sell it to my dad who'll never use accelerated video.

If you have a problem with my price, ok fine, try to find a laptop with a dedicated video card equal or better, a processor equal or better, and the amount of ram for less than double what I'm asking.

Let me specify... Doom3, Q4, Oblivion...

HL2, WoW, and UT2K4 are older and more CPU intensive.

^Doom3, Q4, Oblivion, HL2, WOW, and UT2k4 all can work on that laptop. You just have to sacrifice some visuals for faster performance like running Oblivion at 640x480 or whatever is the smallest size. But it does work.

Yes, I agree, they will work. IMO I couldn't play any of those games at 640x680. Especially Oblivion where you have to see what's coming.

I can play oblivion at 1024x768 on the laptop with a decent framerate (don't know how to turn it on to check). Never bothered with q4 and d3 because they have shitty multiplayer modes. That said, laptop is still for sale.
