anyone know of one that will actually work?

I have the old griffin itrip, and it works well enough at home for me to not return it, but I'd still like to be able to listen to my ipod in the car.

well, I used my Belkin across 3-4 states...it has a backlight and an electronic frequency scanner.

with like 5 freq memory.

monster cables makes the iCarPlay™ that works really well, no static. It plugs in your cig. lighter and charges your pod whilst pumping the tunes through the FM radio, has 8 frequencies that it will run on or you can get the plus version that will let you use any FM frequency you want except 87.7 and 87.9. Hooks up through the dock connector.

kindy pricey but works great and charges your pod too.

the DLO and monster ones are actually rather good compared to the belkin and griffin ones. My friend has a Transpod and I use a monster icarplay (got it off ebay for 30 bucks). They're both great and I never have a problem with static with mine and have never heard static on my friend's transpod.

I have the monster one...cost like 90 bucks when I got it...but it will pick up on any station...not just 5 pre-set stations...definitely worth it, unless you live in an area where every station has a signal, but I doubt that you do

griffin smartdeck. not an fm transmitter but will work way better than any of them. plus you can use the controls on the steering wheel/radio to skip songs, and it will display song info in some cars...if you get the dock connector version.

That is the one I had, I found it about a year ago on slickdeals for $15. It has 12 different frequencies that you can choose from, six low and six high. It has never given me any problems and definitely gets the job done. Sound quality isn't bad either.

I use an iTrip, which is a small transmitter powered off of the ipods battery, and can be programmed to any station.

It works pretty damn well on home stereos, and ok in the car (esp. with the antenna removed, since I dont listen to the radio anyway).

I like it because it is extremely portable, and it is easy for me to travel with and play in my friends' cars and home systems.

Scoche FM transmitter from Walmart. This thing was the first FM transmitter I got and I've never had to waste money on any of the expensive ass ones. It's only $17 and it is set to only work on stations 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, but it works awesome on 88.5 here in Raleigh. I'm not so sure about other cities, but it worked great in a bigger city like Charlotte as well. There is a little background static, but you can't hear it when the music is playing. **Don't get the one that charges your ipod, it's a piece of shit and doesn't work. Get the one that plugs in in the 3.5 mm. It's in the car audio section, not electronics.

i use the iRiver i got from best buy. Can tune to any freq between 88 and 107.9. Works really well. Only drawback is it doenst charge you ipod. That said, it works just as well as the ones that do, but is 30 bucks cheaper.

I've got a DLO that works quite well that I don't need any more. Would be willing to let it go for a reasonable price if you are interested. It works with any ipod that uses the 18 pin connection (I think thats what its called, basically any newer ipod but the shuffle).

Why am I selling it if it works so well? I got the hardwired setup in the new car, don't need it. Its got the cradle and everything built right in. Cost me like $70 new about a year ago.

Get one with a digital tuner. The original iTrip had to be changed from within the iPod menu. Although it worked good, it was a pain to change when traveling.

I've been using an iTrip for a long time and have done a lot of travelling with it (TN, NC, SC). I get great sound quality, and little to no static. It is a pain to change the station from the iPod menu. But it's not that bad.

My only complaint is that it sometimes isn't loud enough.

by kensington, which is just a transmitter built into a DC adaptor. it's nice because it's an all in one solution. sound quality will never be as good as line-in aux but it works fairly well for roadtrips, not audiophile listening sessions in your car

^^yea it's not that bad....just sucks that you have to stop your song, when with another model it would take you no time at all.

Cool thing about the iTrip is that it's completely wireless(eats more battery life though) whereas a lot of the generic brands still require you to plug it into the cigarette lighter

i have the monster iCarPlay and LOVE it. never had a static issue or anything but crisp sound.

not only is sound good but it fits all ipods b/c it uses the dock connector, not the headphone jack. when i got my ipod video i couldnt use my iTrip b/c it only fit my ipod mini. but i wasnt complaining b/c the iTrip was TERRBILE---drained my battery, sucky sound and not user friendly.

monster is where its at. not sure about the $69 though...to be sure you can find it cheaper. i got mine for Christmas but i dont think my brother paid more than $40.
