Last night I came into possession of two short-haired male hamsters, complete with two nice, multi-level cages (which include food and water bowls, houses, etc.), along with the hamsters' supplies, such as food, cage cleaner, a book on hamsters, etc.
One hamster is white and yellow, and the other is a mottled black and brown (think of a tortie cat). There's absolutely nothing wrong with these little guys. I have them because I work at a pet store, and a man was trying to bring them back after buying them 3 weeks ago. It wasn't his fault; they were his kids', he got home from being overseas, the wife told him to get them out of the house, (the hamsters, not the kids), and he had to leave on a flight the next morning. His only options were to find anyone who could take them, or to abandon them. Since corporate policy won't let our store take any animals back after 2 weeks (we've gotten in trouble for it already), my options were to turn away this guy and his two adorable, sad little kids, or to agree to take the hamsters home with me.
I would keep them, but I already have 7 pets, and I don't have any more time to devote to two new ones. I would like to see these guys go to a good home. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put some pictures up.
I'm also going to ask that, if you want a hamster, you offer a few bucks donation, just so I know they're not going to become snake food. This isn't a sale; I'm not going to give the hamsters to the highest bidder or anything; I just want to be assured they're going to be taken as pets.
If you live in the area I'll even drive them out to you. 6/25/2006 10:34:13 AM |

Sorry about the delay on pics, guys. Work's been hectic. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow night.
And I don't have anything against snakes, personally. Just snake owners. Having worked specialty in a pet store, the vast majority of snake owners I meet are little boys overcompensating way too hard. (Though there are a few okay snake people in the bunch, the generalization holds mostly true.) 6/26/2006 11:49:40 PM |
