While on a jobsite today one of our contractors found a litter of Kittens with their mother. The entire set needs to be rescued, we don't want to do SPCA, we're worried they'll be put down. They are still nursing, can anyone help? 6/27/2006 11:50:47 AM |

go to http://www.safehavenforcats.org and see if they can take them. Its the cat shelter i work at, its no-kill and if they arent at full capacity they can probably take them

The SPCA never kills animals unless they are so badly injured and/or sick that medical attention cannot save them.
You are thinking about the county/city pounds which are completely different.

I talked to her today, she said they are full on cats, and they would more than likely be put down. 6/27/2006 2:51:19 PM |

You are incorrect about the SPCA they will euthanize animals if they have no room. Shelters don't do it to be jerks. If they have no room and no one will take the dogs, then they do what they think needs to be done. They don't see euthanasia as cruelty to animals, b/c they use lethal injection. but believe me they will euthanize.
If you are willing, call all cat rescue groups and see if anyone has room. parkway animal hospital will sometimes take cats that need homes. you can also try petsound animal hospital.
is the mother tame? can she be touched? 6/27/2006 3:23:43 PM |

I just called Parkway and they are full, so they can't help. I have a cat condo thing if someone on here can take them.

How many kittens?
Is the mother tame?
Do they have fleas or any obvious diseases?
I can take them all until they are weaned, then find homes for all but the two kittens I like the best.
PM me. 6/27/2006 4:05:21 PM |

3 kittens, these animals came from a home that was foreclosed on. The mother is very tame. They obviously had a family at some point. If you can take them please let me know. 6/27/2006 4:10:49 PM |

Does anyone know how much it will cost to get a vet check up and shots for the kittens and mother? How much is it to spay/neuter cats? If I take them I'm going to make sure they go to the vet soon. 6/27/2006 4:20:13 PM |

Too expensive to do a regular vet. http://www.animalkind.org/home.html should be useful. 6/27/2006 6:36:30 PM |

You could also check around with vets that also do rescue work (petfinder.com can tell you some of those) and see if they'll help you at-cost, or at the rescue price. 6/27/2006 7:10:24 PM |

^yes...especially if they are unfamiliar with the people or if the people disturb the kittens and make the mother feel threatened. 6/28/2006 5:00:25 PM |

Didn't find them. I looked around there in the woods for about an hour.
I put out some food under the deck and on the front porch, I also put a sign up saying to call me if anyone saw them.
Now I have to go pull briar thorns out of my skin and put some calamine lotion on my feet because of walking through poison ivy AND poison oak AND poison sumac with flip flops on 6/28/2006 8:18:20 PM |

I'm sorry
My ex found a litter where he worked at once and the mother moved them right away but left the runt. He didnt want to take the kitten just yet but she never came back for him. I bottle fed that thing for 6 weeks and it turned out to be ummm..an interesting(?) cat (aka very agressive, but i <3ed him)

there are some kittens that live near the dumpster near my work. 2 are pretty young. maybe 10 wks? and a few are older ~ 6 months and 2 adults from what i can see. they're feral but catchable and since they're young probably tameable. and the babies are cute. one is white with orange spots and another is a torti. the torti is really skinny...
i fed them my pizza tonight as i was leaving.. going to bring some cat food tomorow and start leaving it out for them.
if you want to know where these guys are - pm me and you can come try and catch them 6/30/2006 1:55:07 AM |
