Question.
In the regular semester GN411 has a problem set that is required in conjunction with the course.
In the Summer there is no problem set. Is it because it's too late to register? or because it isn't required??

I would think Problem set classes help a great deal??

Thank You,
Matt Chiu

O one more thing.
Is anyone selling a GN411 textbook???
I will buy it from you for a reasonable price. I think in stores they are going for 50$$.

well if anyone wants to study with me, im definetly free to do so with anyone. But i really would like the textbook for the class. If i can't buy it for cheap here, ima go to the bookstore.

the book was a big waste of money. And most of my upper level classes didn't require a book, one book (it would require many) didn't cover the material well enough so the professors just rely on their own notes.

No one I know ever bought the book for GN 411. It's seriously a "if you'd like it on your bookshelf" thing. You absolutely will not need it in order to make an A in the class. The course-pak is a self-contained unit. If you don't get a concept, ask in office hours OR the book would be on reserve in the library. Even if you think that you may want a genetics textbook for reference in graduate school or something - the field is expanding so fast. Wait and buy a book when you absolutely need it.

i think normally the lecture counts for 3 hrs and there's a 1 hr problem session but if you notice the one for summer is listed as 4 hrs so i think they just combine the two for summer

you won't need the text book- just go to class and take notes (the only time the text book is handy is if you miss a class and the course pack isn't sufficient)

who is teaching it? my friend said she has emigh which is who I had last session, and there was no homework... maybe this is the replacement for the problem session? I dunno, but I never bothered using the the text book (glad I just borrowed it from a friend instead of buying it)

Well i'm back. Man I Hate the WEBCT interface.
Update on how class is going for those that may be taking it. I was supposed to take this class in the fall but figured since i had time i would just take it now. Class is long, everyday, Monday-Friday. Very interesting stuff. In this class it is very much like Statistics. So if you are gonna take this class, be prepared to deviate standards, chi square goodness of fit, etc.

With the book, i think it is necessary for the summer. I don't know about the semester, but having a textbook helps out in the problems for HW. either way, at the end of this semseter if anyone wants this textbook (highlighted by me) just pm me.
