Don't know if one of my roomies changed my password or what happened but i am locked out of my laptop...I have already googled the problem and have had zero success. i don't know my admin. pass and have tried using software download off of loginrecovery.net which you download, run on other system, copy codes, input on site and then get informed that it isn't "really free" and you need to pay to retrieve the password.

in shortm does anyone know a way to bypass the windows password screen or recover password. Thus far i have found nothing via google/yahoo searching.

you can try a bootable Linux CD like Slax or Knoppix. I think they have a XP password recovery tool, although I've never tried it myself.

and if anyone looks this thread up ever again there is really this linux bootable thing that will let you change your password. one time I went too long without turning off my computer and forgot my password.
