which one would you pick. Forgeting the "fuck all of them" response...what would you go with and why?

2001 Civic EX: Power everything, aftermarket deck, 80,000 miles........$9000

2002 Altima 2.5 s: Power all, 6 disc changer, sunroof, 19inch prem. rims, 114,000 miles......$13,000

2003 Maxima GLE: Power all, BOSE audio-6 disc changer, Navigation system, 17 inch prem. rims., sunroof, all the bells and whistles, 110,000miles..........$14,100

2002 Lincoln LS: Power all, 6 disc changer, sunroof, 17inch rims, tinted, new tires, 1 owner, 95,000 miles..... $12,000

3 of these have real high miles but i know that Nissan's run forever... prices all seem high and def. not buying anything right now. Girlfriend is waiting to hear back from dealership but checked these out through a "friend" of the family's dealer....

Maxima.

Reason: best engine out of all of them, 110k is nothing for that car.

thats what i was thinking- here is the issue... She doesn't drive stick and it's a 5 speed! I have tried teaching her numerous times and she still sucks- straight up burnt out the clutch on my jetta. I am worried she is going to get, be stuck on a hill at a light on the way home, not get it into gear, roll back and hit someone....

I think the LS is only a V6, which is not bad considering there's a possibility gas will be $5/gal two years from now.

the v6 isn't bad either... 3.0 dohc i think its still 225-250 hp
and its still a nicer car than the rest.

i vote lincoln

its the best lincoln made in recent years
ford's stab at making a 530 and though didn't quite make it still kicks ass in the bang for your buck market

it is the 3.5 liter- drives real nice! She liked that one best because it was fully loaded in every sense possible. My issue is that it seams kind of silly to spend $5000 dollars more for a vehicle with 30,000 more miles on it than the civic. Are all the accesories really worth it? Could buy every upgrade it has as far as alarm and audio shit for a reasonable price and civics run forever.

Does anyone think $14,000 is a litle high with those miles? He was actually asking $15,000 but i am almost sure he could be worked to 14

It's not like you're just buying more options for that extra $5k over the civic - it's a larger, more comfortable, better handling, quicker car that happens to have more standard features as well.

Not to hate on the civic - it's a fine car and will be very reliable, however it's not playing in the same league as a maxima.

$14k is really high though - kbb private party excellent condition is $12,050

The LS is nice. That would be my choice for my GF since its a luxury car.

Then I'd choose the Civic.

That's quite a bit of miles on the Maxima for being a 2003, but if it's mainly highway miles should be good. Then again, that's also nothing for that engine. I'd say Maxima, but if she can't learn how to drive stick, then get the lincoln. Also, since the Maxima has a nav system, she won't get lost... That's a nice piece of mind is she's one of those drivers who get's lost frequently. Forget about that altima since the civic is a better car for cheaper price.

But personally, I'd shop around more. Check out craigslist.org

I had an 01 civic EX and it never gave me any sort or problem, however b/c it was the first year after the restyle the panels on the inside didn't fit great and squeaked a little. Still, for reliability I would say honda. Either that or one of the Nissans.

Go with the Maxima. You can get the price a little lower though to around 13-13.5. Civic would be better gas mileage but the Maxima is the most fun to drive, plus it has the Navigation so she can't ever get lost. An 03 with that many miles has got to be a salesmans car and it probably all highway so that is a plus. I bought a new altima a couple years ago (05 model) and while it's fun to drive the quality of the car is not as nice as the maxima. Don't go the an altima below year 2005 model because the interior is CHEAP looking.

But since she's a girl and doesn't drive a stick here's what's going to happen. You'll beg her to get the Maxima, go back and forth about it, you'll get in a fight and you'll say how much better a stick is and how it's fun to drive..., not talk for a couple of hours and she'll end up getting the civic and put some "roxy girl" sticker on the back window and hang a lei on the mirror.

Any true mechanical standpoints on this one? such as with the maxima or lincoln do they have typical problems after 100,000 to be aware of?

Another vote for the Civic.

That motor hasn't even been broken in with 80k on it. It'll give the least amount of problems, statistically speaking. It will also get the best gas mileage out of the four. Insurance is most likely cheapest on the Honda as well.

If she's looking for something nicer, well then I guess it would be her opinion, but I would opt for the Maxima.

i am worried about that many miles on the maxima. She bought a plymouth breeze with 102,000 miles on it and 20,000 later it starts to kick the bucket. I know that the two cares aren't even in the same class but i am still concerned. From my knowledge maximas get a lot of life out of the right? If she wants the maxima should i not let her get it due to miles for that much money? Could by a cert. preowned corolla for that price with 30,000 miles on it

I would get the Lincoln without so much as a second thought, but if reliability is a big concern I suppose the Maxima wouldn't be a bad choice.
