Because Ozzie Guillen knows who writes his paychecks, I am mad that Schilling didn't make the All-Star roster but I will get over it especially since Schilling is pitching next Sunday so he wouldn't pitch in the All-Star game anyways. Let him load the team with his White Sox pitchers so they will be overworked come postseason time.

The fact that the game means something (home field advantage) is the exact reason pitchers like Liriano and Verlander weren't picked. If you are the manager and your team is in contention and very likely to make it to the World Series again, would you trust rookies in the bottom of the seventh or eighth of the AllStar game to hold a slight lead against Pujols, Cabrera, Beltran or whoever else was coming up? Or would you rather have your very own trusted pitchers whom you know have been there and done that?

Sorry to say but as long as the All Star game is not an exhibition game, managers will more than likely take their own over others, especially the younger guys. It's just how it is.

don't blame guillen, blame the system. If you give a manager the power to choose players, why wouldn't he pick more of his own guys? The more all stars his team has, the better a manager he appears to be, the more popular his players/franchise are, the more money the team brings in, the more money he possibly could make. Why wouldn't every manager bring more of their own guys in? It's a stupid system if you ask me. and btw, the all-star game should not determine home-field advantage, the teams' records who actually make it to the world series should.
