Press conference at 1

http://tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=170385&hubName=main

Even if you hated the Wings, I don't see how anyone couldn't appreciate Stevie Y. He was an awesome player and incredibly classy.

He was playing in the NHL before I was even born, and I was 1 year old when he was given the 'C'. I know it's going to be weird for Detroit fans to see someone else as captain. I'm glad I was able to be at the RBC Center this year to see him play one last time (and he scored a hell of a goal as well).

i doubt there will ever be any player who has been captain for his team for 20 straight years ever again.

i've already said it once in this thread, the man is a fucking legend.

this was bittersweet news

I have been alive his entire career and I considered myself honored to have such a great captain of my favorite hockey team.

He is the epitome of being selfless. I cant tell you how many empty netters ive seen him pass off to the other guy hustling back with him, etc. That is just one example. I am glad a few people down here appreciate him. He was one of my 2 favorite players of any sport because of the way he played the game and sacrificed for the team.

Thanks Stevie Y, now enjoy your seat in the Red Wings' fron office and help us continue to be an elite franchise

Lindstrom for C, and ^^^, best goal in the history of mankind (even happened with the 2 line pass rule no less)

Stevie Y is Hockeytown and Hockeytown is Stevie Y.

I hate I never got to see him play, even though I hate the red wings.

I hope the Canes play the Avs next year in Raleigh so I can see Sakic before he retires.
