babzi, Kobe sucks balls. Can't make his team better for shit. Performing exceptionally as an individual really isn't that special in the NBA. It's the other shit that's impressive.

^, ^^, You two both laugh, but which is more important leading the league in scoring or winning an NBA Championship?

Last I checked winning=better.

Look at Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. Russell has what 10 rings and averaged like 19 PPG.

Wilt averaged 30 PPG and rarely won anything.

Which had you rather be?

This is bullshit.

Odom, Smush, Mihm, Kwame and George would be a MUCH better team than David West, PJ Brown, Claxton, Mason and Butler. It's not even close.

Same can be said for the Hawks, Knicks and Trailblazers minus their best players.

PS Kobe is not a team player. His assist numbers are atrocious for a guy that handles the ball as much as he does. Lebron and Wade both set up a lot more shots for their teammates.

If Kobe scores 81 points in a playoff game or a game that actually matters, I'll be impressed. As it is, those 50 some shots that he took in that game just goes to show how much of a ballhog he is.

Ultimately he ended up a bitch against the Suns, getting outplayed by Nash.

^that's funny because Jordan's highest field goal attempts per game is 49 without even getting his career high in it. Kobe = 47 FGA highest.

Let's see, Jordan that year had Pippen, Grant, Paxon, Armstrong and some other good players and he shot that much. Ballhog??????

***Also Kobe shot 46 shots to get those 81 points. Turns out he is also one of the best three point streakers ever with the record 12/17 3's in one game vs Seattle after going 9/9 in that game. Also shot 7/13 3's when he got the 81.

Jordan made his teammates better and averaged several more assists per game than Kobe.

You can't argue with the stats. Kobe just doesn't set his teammates up, despite getting double teamed on a regular basis. He's a ballhog.

^^Why are you bringing Jordan into this argument?

this making the teammates better issue is really used too much. Jordan did not make Paxon's shot better, he didn't make Kerr shoot better, he didn't make Rodman block and rebound better, didn't make Grant score, rebound or block better along with many others. The Bulls management brought very good players to Jordan's team and he was getting called out for not getting them involved. When he finally started passing to others, they won championships.

As for Wade, damn this year he had some excellent players in which he didn't make better. They were already very good and from what I remember, Walker would always attack on his own towards the basket and score, Payton created off his dribble, J. Williams also created off his dribble and could always hit it, Mourning is a flat out beast, O'neal sucked, Posey created shit for Wade with his defense.

Now Lebron does seem to make his teammates better but it's because they are very good players and much better compared to Kobe's teammates. Damn it, aside from Odom who is really a wos under pressure, the lakers have shit. Lebron has very consistent players in what they are there to do. Snow actually makes Lebron better by taking some pressure off of him with his leadership and defense, Gooden has always been a great scorer under the basket, rebounder and blocker, Damon Jones sometimes can be unstoppable with his shot and sometimes complete shit, but still he made several game winning shots this season (very big one in the playoffs), Donyell Marshall is probably better than every single player on the lakers aside from Kobe and Odom, Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a very consistent center who can do it all and has always done so, Larry Hughes has always been excellent when he is healthy.

How can anyone compare the supporting cast of Lebron and Wade with that of Kobe's?

Also, everyone started saying wow how Kobe made his teammates better in that Phoenix series, but they forget how frustrating it is to watch Odom, Brown and Smush be complete shit missing 90% of their open shots in game 7 along with no defense.

when the Walton kid was getting lots of minutes in the playoffs i realized without Kobe they couldnt win ten games in a season...

that said, Id take Kwame Brown because I still havent given up on him... this would be his what, second or third year out of college, its a shame he went and didnt go get the experience but oh well...

Must not have been too frustrating for Kobe...cause he kept passing those fuckers the ball instead of trying to take the game over like Wade did in the Finals. I still don't get that shit other than Kobe trying to prove a point (which makes it 100 times worse).

And how the fuck could Kobe have taken the Heat farther?? They won the whole thing. Maybe they would have swept the Mavs with Kobe...

What in the hell? Do you believe ANY of the things you just said?

Eric Snow is the worst starting PG in the league hands down. Damon Jones sucks dick. He's played on like 8 teams in 9 seasons and they are trying to trade him for a pair of mismatched socks right now. Drew Gooden has been a huge bust and they are also trying to get rid of him. Donyell Marshall is alright, he's never even been on a playoff roster before this season. Ilgauskas can "do it all"? He can shoot and block an occasional shot and thats about it. He's slow, sucks defensively, can't play in transition, and is an average rebounder. Larry Hughes has has ONE good season (in Washington) in his entire career basically and he doesn't complement Lebron very well.

The one player i would give you that is solid and fills his role you didnt even mention... Varejao.

So I take it you didn't see game 7 of the Cleveland/Detroit series when Lebron's teammates went like 7-48 from the field?

Clevelands supporting cast is much worse than the Lakers.... the Lakers got some really good games out of Kwame, George, & Odom.... you can't just ignore games 1-6.

Lebron never had any help the entire series except from Varejao...

In the second half of game 7 with the difference already 20 at the start. Kobe was getting tripple teamed and the plan was for him to pass the ball to the wide open players. They couldn't hit shit, we're talking open layups and open jump shots. By the way, same shit in the first half. Yeah, at the same time Kobe wasn't fighting the tripple team too much, maybe proving a point or having some faith in his wide open teammates. By the time they found out there was no hope in his teammates, then the point differential was too high and Phoenix was hitting every three they shot. I'm just saying that it wasn't all about Kobe, Phil said that was the game plan in the second half and the Lakers as a whole didn't respond well to it.

What did Wade do in games 1 and 2 against DALLAS? Not much, but his team figured out a way for him to play against that defense and they set him up for the remaining games. Wade even mentioned this along with Riley that he was frustrated with the defense and the Heat studied and came up with ways for him to get open.

^^ come on man. The players I mentioned are not that bad at all. Snow is the one who defends the toughest guard on the other team. Damon Jones does suck dick but can shoot well and that is what they brought him for eventhough he hasn't done that much except for two game winning shots. Give the Lakers Gooden and they would probably make it to the west finals. Hughes???? That boy can play, what are you talking about? We agree on Marshall.

You actually believe that Kobe has a better supporting cast at the moment?

Dude Gooden barely even played in the postseason... he did nothing... they've been shopping him all offseason with no takers.

Damon Jones plays for a different team every year because he cant do ANYTHING except shoot threes and he didnt even do that well this season.

Hughes didnt do much of anything in the playoffs, and he cant shoot straight so it's not helpful to get him open shots...

Lebron needs to be surrounded by athletic bigs and shooters. Right now he has neither.

"Jordan made his teammates better and averaged several more assists per game than Kobe. "

Jordan averaged 5.3 assists for his career, 1989 notwithstanding he was within one assist up/down for almost every other season. He averaged a difference-making 5.5 assists per 40 minutes.

Kobe's current average is 4.5 assists, but this must take into account that he had two near-full seasons (150 games, or 21 percent of his 707 games) of playing less than 30 minutes per game. Five times in the eight seasons since then, he's had seasons during which he played fewer than 70 games. Stretch his numbers out to 40 minutes a game and he's at 5 assists even.

So less than a full assist per game using straight numbers, and half an assist per game when you use adjusted numbers to account for the fact that he got no PT for 2 years. No burn = no opportunity for assists.

I can see how this appears to be blatantly wrong. Individual performance is valued more in the NBA than any other league...but that's because of the stupid fans...and my point is that pretty much all these guys are exceptional athletes who can do amazing things with a basketball.

So, yeah, as an individual, Kobe is a little bit more exceptional than most other individuals...but after a certain point, it doesn't matter...

Jordan couldn't make Kwame Brown better but it seemed that Kobe somewhat did by getting him open, passing it to the opeN Kwame and giving him confidence all around. That right there makes Kobe an amazing teammate!
