Funny that he would have a heart attack though. I wouldn't think a man without a heart could have it attack him.

Loosing your life savings is pretty egregious. That level of callous greed and self-centeredness is just about as despicable as someone who would violate someone else for sexual gain. I am just thinking of the thousands of people who were shafted because this bastard wanted "just a little more."7/6/2006 9:37:04 AM |

eraser, don't get me wrong...this guy was a vile prick who deserved to spend the rest of his life in prison.
But you can't count the loss of life savings 1:1 with rape and murder to see who shafted more people. Not to mention that the loss of life savings was really limited to employees...and if they were smart investors, they wouldn't have tied up all their money in the stock of one corporation. That's day 1 investing stuff...not that they deserved it, but they could have just as easily lost all their savings had the company legitimately gone bankrupt (although I doubt the company would have blacked-out the 401k in that case). 7/6/2006 10:49:53 AM |

The story says that because of Ken's death, his conviction could be voided, thus opening the potential for Skilling's release. Any legal minds want to wrap their heads around this one?

Quote : | " ``He probably didn't have the best memories of Houston lately,'' said the Rev. William A. Lawson, pastor emeritus of Houston's Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Lay was saddened, Lawson said, because many people in Houston ignored his civic achievements and focused on his role in Enron's downfall.
Lay died of a massive heart attack on July 5, while vacationing in a home he once owned near Aspen, Colorado. He was awaiting sentencing after being convicted in May of federal fraud charges stemming from Enron's collapse, which wiped out more than 5,000 jobs and $1 billion in employee pensions.
Lawson will speak July 9 in Aspen at a private memorial service for Lay's family. He said the family plans to cremate and bury Lay's remains in Aspen. Another service will be held July 12 in Houston. Lawson said he hopes to comfort the family with the thought that history can rehabilitate a person's image.
``I plan to tell them this is not the first time somebody good has been falsely accused and even crucified,'' Lawson said today in an interview before leaving for Aspen.
``Just like Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy, my hope is that people will view Ken Lay in a much more positive light after his death. Even though people say he's a robber and a crook and that it's a good thing he's dead, we have the right to tell his family we've seen this (vilification) before, and history can be kind.'' " |
