After reading about recent plans to drill for oil off of the Gulf Coast (which I might actually favor, even as an environmentalist, if it means staying out of alaska) and the roles the states will take in such actions, I got thinking...

What would be the pros and cons of moving towards more of a confederacy as opposed to a federation at this point? the obvious pro is that more localized governance is more responsive, with the con being, well, the ones that brought an end to the Articles way back when. Of course, this would invovle a restructuring of the powers of each body, but in what ways?

Discuss.

They did it in Wing Commander. And that movie sucked. So no.
