its the best way to lose weight according to most articles ive read.

ideally 30 minutes 5-7 times a week is what you aim for. 60 minutes 5-7 days a week if you want to go all out.

i hit 2 miles every afternoon (5 days a week). its not 30 minutes but ill wait till its not 95 with 99% humidity before I push it too much more.

You either eat like an offensive lineman, have one of the worst metabolisms ever (or a thyroid problem), or you're training for a marathon.....or you're dumb.

yea i have a fairly slow metabolism.

when i speak of results, im not just speaking of weight loss. my goal is to be very fit. though i am not training for anything. some people simply desire to be very cardiovasculary fit. i hardly think this is anything abnormal for a regular person, its not like i do any more then 6m in one session. i run 50mins 3x a week. thats not training for marathon, thats far from it.

Quote :
"you must be doing everything else completely wrong, then."

telling people that 50mins of running 3x a week is 'wrong' or bad is complete misinformation. the idea that this amount of running is over doing it is complete bullshit. many studies have shown that only after 60mins of real excersize does your testosterone levels drop, and muscle catabolism begin to occur.

but congrats to jbrick83
all you people get that? 50mins of running 3x a week MAKES YOU DUMB. what makes you smart is not doing excersize. thats quite smart. fitness threads and misinformation are married.

do you know the fucking meaning of 'every thing else' in that sentence?

[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 8:03 PM. Reason : *]

because if ANYTHING that sentence implies that the running that youre doing is the ONLY thing youre doing correctly

i base it on the english language.

if youre running that much and getting no results then you must be doing everything else wrong.

the retarded implication was from you to infer that for some reason i meant that if you didnt run that much you would get better results

english.

Quote :
"its barely enough."

i never said no results.

and just so you know, people that have been running for a long time need to increase their speed and distance to get better results. look up basic cardiovascular training. six miles may seem like a lot to you, but thats becuase you dont run six miles as often as me. do you understsand that?

I could easily be 100x more fit and lean then you, but that doesnt mean I can keep doing to the same workout and see the results I want. This is basic basic stuff. Like i said, there is so much misinformation here from people who dont jack about fitness.

I understood it, you simply dont understand basic concepts of fitness. What seems like a lot to YOUR body, isnt shit to other people.

Do you understand now? Or do I have to keep explaining?

i understand exactly how cardio exercise scales

you somehow thought i was implying that running the amount you were was not needed, or somehow that my comment had anything to do with your running, when it didnt.

keep talking about shit everyone already knows about to try to bury your idiocy. its working.

your words say otherwise. you said someone would have to be doing everything else wrong to barely see cardiovascular results from 6 miles/3x a week. that means you simply dont understand how your body/VO2max/heart/muscles change when you excersize. Keep backpedaling.

actually, again youre wrong. i said nothing in response to 6 miles a day 3x a week.

I responded to

Quote :
"i do 18 miles per week but you wouldnt see my brag about that for a second. its barely enough"

granted, i thought like most of the others in here you were running primarily for weight loss, not an extreme level of fitness, so i took it as you were running every day. 18 miles wouldnt be that much for a week.

regardless, nowhere in my statement

Quote :
"
"you must be doing everything else completely wrong, then." "

do i imply that running 18 miles a week is bad or wrong like you stated.

^ i never said one fucking thing about 6 miles 3x a week fuckstick. for someone who knows so much about cardio fitness, you sure dont seem to grasp the difference between 3 miles a day vs 6 miles 3 times a week

Yay...I was right. Slow metabolism.

6 miles, 3 times a week is pretty good. I wouldn't usually qualify that as barely enough, but if you have a pretty slow metabolism, then it might just be. I'd like to do 6 miles a session. I just can't pace myself. I try to do it for a mile, then I just get bored and run faster. After 3 miles I'm beat. I'm in good shape though, so I don't need to run more...but I've always wanted to go out and smoke a 10K. Maybe one day.

^ resisting the urge to NOT run is hard. Running keeps the gut off and wakes me up for work in the morning. I ran three miles during my lunch hour and paid the price. 95 degrees in the hot South Florida sun and humidity in the worst part of the day is NOT a good idea.

Quote :
"but I've always wanted to go out and smoke a 10K."

How about smoking AFTER the 10K? 15 minutes after she finished with a decent time, I saw some lady light up a Virginia Slim right after completing one down here.
