I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee and I would like for it to be looked over bumper to bumper for anything that needs to be replaced or repaired and what not. Kind of like a new purchase type inspection.

Can any of you guys recommend a good place? I was just think of the Jeep dealer, David O'Neal.

David O'Neal for $85 will look at it from bumper to bumper for 1 hour and list what needs replacing and maintenance, and give estimates for repair.

What do you guys do and how much?

let me check this afternoon at work but i'm sure its much less than that, and a normal check over involves, putting it up on the lift, checking the tires, brakes, suspension, steering, ujoints, axles, checking for leaks, checking the battery, belts and hoses, usually pulling a spark plug or two, airfilter, lights, a/c, etc.

yeah, we had a lot of shit backed up from yesterday, didn't get a chance to talk to you, but it looks like its in decent shape, about normal for a 100k mile cherokee. the big things are that its gonna need new front tires and rear brake pads, and it could use an ignition tune-up, the plugs and cap and rotor looked rough, along with the wires. other wise not too bad, a lot of small leaks, nothing thats hard to fix besides the rear main, which i wouldnt worry about since its just seeping out of there, the front end and drivetrain were in good shape and the transmission fluid looked good, not burnt or dark, and it has a new radiator in it, which is a common problem for those, so you should be good on that.

Thank you very much for having a look at this thing, I really do appreciate it.

Yeah I'm gonna get some new tires on it here this week. I'd like to try and do the rear brakes myself. Is it worth it?
As for the rear main, do you mean the differential?
I found this and it looked rather simple or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

I really would like to start learning how to do some of my own work so I can keep an eye on this thing. Anyone have some patience and some free time and wouldn't mind showing someone the ropes for some simple things like brake work and some seals or am I getting a bit ahead of myself?

no, the rear main engine seal, the transmission has to come out to fix it, so unless it is pouring oil out of there, it isnt worth fixing

rear brakes are easy. a manual will help. try to get a chilton's, i've had better experiences with them. i think i have a haynes manual here at the house you could borrow for the brakes. they should be the same as the yj's/tj's. pm me if you want to borrow it, or hell, come over and i can help you replace them sometime.

I'll be glad to bring any beer or what ever for you giving me a hand. Just let me know.
