The MacBooks are still fairly new. The MBPros however could use a bump. The MW Expo (or is it the WWDC?) is in mid august, which is when the pro desktops are expected to be announced, and it's possible maybe the MBPros will be bumped then too.

i'm thinking about getting a MB.

I was working at a summer camp last week with a guy who had one. I was using his to tinker around, cuz I've never owned a mac, and I loaded a CD into the superdrive to play it through iTunes.

the damned thing wouldn't eject the cd, though. i hit the eject key about 20x, and it finally spit it out This was a beatup cd that looked like someone had used it as a hockey puck, but still, it freaked me out.

anybody else have problems with a MB ejecting CDs? i wanna know before i get one....

on all Macs you use the keyboard eject key, or right click on the disc image on your desktop, or drag and drop the disc image to the trashcan.
as a last resort, you can restart and hold down Spacebar + 'c' while rebooting and it will eject

hold the eject key, it should work fine, but a screwed up cd doesnt help at all

its the WWDC, starts first week of August, i believe the 7th is when they are previewing OS X Leopard

My sister just bought a MacBook for school this coming Fall

(she's dead to me, btw)

There isn't going to be some (by relative Mac standards) big upgrade to the line between now and the beginning of August, is there?

The big upgrade coming in September probably will be putting in the new Merom cores into MacBooks. These are the mobile version of the 64 bit dual core Conroes that will be hitting desktops sometime this month.

^Haha, hitting desktops only for intel's largest customers and only in extremely small numbers. It won't be until end of this year/ early next year when they'll be availible in large numbers.

Well, at the very least, you should be able to buy a dell with one by the end of the month.

Stock of those will probably still be limited for quite some time. But yeah, you should see them appearing in the workstations and XPS line in limited numbers at least. Apple might get them that soon too, that may have been part of the deal for switching over to intel.
